This cover, nicknamed "unblockable cover" technically is a field fabricated suction cover. By installing this cover (correctly) you meet all the Federal Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, Section 1404(c)(1)(A)(i) requirements for the grate/cover. Pools must still comply with the sump requirements, which is a seperate issue from the field fabricated unblockable cover. With this cover you do not need a vacuum breaking device. This cover is listed on the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) web site as approved manufacturers of ASME/ANSI Approved Drain Covers. As you can see by the photo, the cover has a 1" thick outside frame that is fastened into the concrete with 12 stainless steel anchors. The outside frame has a shallow pitch. 1" rise in 3.5", so vacuums won't get hung up on it and it will be comfortable for bathers to walk on. The cover comes with easy to follow instructions.
