Above Ground Pools

This guide is made to help you with your above ground pool and equipment selection. Here are some of the things to think about before the purchasing your above ground pools. Please select from one of our sections listed below.

PICKING YOUR POOL

Okay, so you’ve made the decision and the promise. This past summer was the last one you were going to let yourself bake while your family pleads for refreshment, so you’re just gonna go for it. But with all of the options available which one should you buy? Maybe you’ve visited a couple of stores or browsed the internet and noticed all of the different manufacturers, sizes, shapes, materials, and accessories, and just don’t know where to begin. Hopefully this section will help to bring you closer to your summertime solution.

INSTALLATION

Selecting your pool is only the beginning. A new pool is useless until it’s holding water because the family won’t be too cool about sitting in the backyard next to a pallet full of boxes. In fact, nothing will get you heated up more than an improperly installed pool. Some of the problems that result from a bad install may include an uneven floor or a buckled (or wrinkled) liner. Cosmetically these symptoms don’t look pleasing but what’s worse is that the future could hold physical danger if these concerns aren’t addressed from the start. It’s much better to do it right the first time than to have to do it again after it collapses.

PUMPS & FILTERS

If you want to keep your pool free of dirt and debris, and don’t want all your friends getting sick, you’re going to need a pump and filter system. In fact, no pool should ever go without a proper sanitization system. Yes, there are many different options but once you understand the advantages and disadvantages of each, selecting one becomes much easier. Hopefully we can clear up any confusion you might have and help you make the right choice.

LINERS

When selecting a liner it’s important to know the size, type, and gauge that’s required for your pool. There are three primary types of liners to choose from as well as two gauges of thickness. However, there are exceptions. Sometimes pool manufacturers develop a proprietary liner for their specific model pool, which is smart for them (because it keeps you coming back) but not always in the best interest of the customer. We will help guide you through some different things to consider when selecting a liner so that you know you’re getting the right one. Liner installation is often the most difficult part of the installation process as it requires some technique to get it securely in place and wrinkle free. Reinstalling a liner can be a major headache so it’s very important that it’s done right from the beginning. But have no fear, we’ll walk you through it.

MAINTENANCE

In a perfect world you would only need to get your pool started up and never have to hassle with it again. But since a maintenance-free pool is about as common as world peace, and the laws of physics apply to your pool as much as anything else, things like algae growth, filter cleaning, and debris are something worth paying attention too.

CLOSING FOR WINTER

In most parts of the world, a time will come when it will become too cold outside to think about cooling off. But rest assured, summer will return and when it does you’ll want to use your pool once again. If you want your pool to last year after year, it is important that the necessary steps are taken to close it down properly. It’s a pretty simple operation once you know what to do. We’ll discuss the details here.

OPENING FOR SUMMER

When you step outside, hear the songs of birds, feel the warmth of sun, and take in your very first breath of spring, it quickly becomes apparent that the time is approaching – pool season! There are several things that need to be done before your pool is safe enough to be swimmable, and it’s never too soon to start planning and preparing. In fact, the more you plan ahead in the spring the less you’ll have to be concerned with in the summer. Our goal at Inyo Pool Products is to help you take the hassle out of the summer and bring back the joy of the season that inspired you to get a pool in the first place.

REPLACING PARTS

Although it’s not a pleasant experience (and almost always happens when least expected), sometimes pool parts fail, bend, wear, tear, or snap. It’s just an unfortunate reality, and while most of us would probably prefer not to think about such things until we have to, it is a topic worth a brief discussion.

FENCING

For safety reasons, some areas require by county ordinance that pool owners have a fence bordering the area around the pool. Some pool owners simply prefer the look and the privacy that a fence offers. In either case, it’s a good idea to get informed about your fencing options before making your pool purchase. It’s much easier to buy a pool that comes with a fence than it is to add one later on since most pool fencing is not universal.

COOL ACCESSORIES & GAMES

Sure, you could just wade through the water keeping cool and out of the blazing heat but if you’re having friends or family over and you don’t have pool games then you could be missing out on the best part of pool ownership. There was a time when pool games consisted of classics like Marco Polo and diving for pennies but not anymore. There are more options now than ever before for games, sports, loungers, and the like. From basketball and volleyball to floating tables and chairs, there are some great possibilities for adding excitement, exercise, and fun to your pool season.
