Bubblers create columns of water off a shelf in your pool. They generally have to be included in the initial design of your pool which includes the shelf and installation of the Bubbler fixtures into the shelf. This guide shows you how a Bubbler operates and is installed in a pool with a shelf.

Step by Step

Step 1

INSTALL PIPING TO BUBBLERS - Dedicated piping has to be installed for each of the pool's Bubblers. Some Bubblers incorporate lighting. If you have two Bubblers with lighting, you will need to lay out two water lines and two power lines.

Step 2

INSTALL BUBBLER FIXTURES - This is a picture of a Bubbler imbedded in the pool shelf. It has been connected to the water and power piping.

Step 3

INSTALL BUBBLERS - The top of the Bubbler looks like this. Water is pushed out the center hole and lighting emits from around the outside circumference. The Bubbler top is attached to the light fixture.

Step 4

INSTALL DIVERTER VALVES TO BUBBLERS - The amount of water flowing to the Bubblers is controlled by Diverter Valves shown in the picture. The two pipes to the Bubblers are labeled Bubbler1 and Bubbler2. Valve 4 is used to balance the height of the two Bubblers. Valves 2 and 3 control the amount of flow that will be diverted to the Bubblers which determines the height of the Bubblers.

Marby - Unfortunately, we do not have any information on these types of bubblers.

Good day! We installed bubblers before and our contractor submitted their proposal with Multi-layer Vertical Jets, 15 GPM, Stainless canister w/ straightener. What is it's purpose? I haven't seen it on your basic installation of bubblers. Hoping for your response. Thank you.

Beva - It sounds like the switching mechanism in your button is not working correctly. You may have to replace the button.

For the last week, the bubbler on our pool spa comes on automatically at about 4:30 pm everyday. Previous to this we had to push a button on the side lip to the spa to turn the bubbles on and off. We cannot figure out why it is now coming on automatically. To turn it off we push the button. One day, with repeated pushes of the button it would not go off. My husband turned off the pool pump and pushed the button. It went off. However, today the pool pump was off, and the bubbler started automatically ... around 4:30 pm. A push of the button and it went off. So we believe these events have nothing to do with the pool pump. The spa and the bubbler have never run on a timer ... Just on and off with a push of the button. Does anyone have any idea about what is going on?

Bubblers - All three bubblers should operate the same. Sounds like your third bubbler is getting too much water. Most bubblers are installed with a balancing valve(s) so that they can be adjusted to shoot the water up at the same height. See steps 8 and 9 of this guide on "How To Set Up In Ground Pool Equipment - Part 2 - Features".

My new pool has three bubblers, two of them operate properly but the third one doesn't. It swirls water in all directions and sometimes many feet up and throws a lot of water out of the pool. The pool installer is trying to convince me that this is normal, however I think something is wrong with the bubbler. Any suggestions on what the problem is??

Bubblers - Your bubblers should provide a low to high column of water depending on the water pressure. Your shelf may be too deep or you're not getting enough water pressure to the bubblers.

I have 3 Pentair fiber optic bubblers on my sun shelf that I can't use. They swirl instead of bubble that the water splashes all over. My pool contractor says it's common and I just don't believe it because they look awful! Is this common? Frustrated customer... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
