Occasionally the salt level on the Hayward Aqua Rite may not match the actual salt level of the pool. If the salt cell is clean but the salt reading is off, the Aqua Rite will need to be recalibrated. The following steps will provide a guide on how to recalibrate a Hayward Aqua Rite.

Step 1

Before recalibrating, test the water with salt water test strips to determine the correct salt level. If the results from your test strip are not the same as the Aqua Rite, proceed to step 2.

Step 2

With the pump running, move the main switch from "Auto" to "Off" and then back to "Auto". Wait for approximately 10 - 15 seconds for a click inside the panel.

Step 3

Once you hear the click, immediately push the Diagnostics button 5 times. The system will now begin to recalibrate.

Step 4

A number will appear on the display screen and begin to scroll down. Once the number on the screen matches the number from your test strip result, move the the main switch from "Auto" to "Super Chlorinate" and back to "Auto".

Step 5

The Hayward Aqua Rite should now be successfully recalibrated. If the incorrect salt reading continues to be a problem, it may be time to replace the salt cell.

momo - Clean your SCG cell if required. Check that the cable plug is all the way into the socket. Make sure the displayed cell type is the same as the actual installed cell type. Then try recalibrating your salt level.

katy - If you don't hear the click after 15 seconds, I would go ahead and complete the rest of the steps like it did click. If that doesn't work, you may have another issue. Here is a link to the Aqua Rite Diagnostics Manual that may help isolate the problem. Make sure the cell type displayed is the same as the cell type installed (page 4).

I just put in a new display board I had already replaced the circuit board behind it less than two years ago. I tried to recalibrate the display board since only the on button is lit up but when I go from off to auto there is no click sound after 10-15 seconds..

This worked perfectly for me. All I need to do is recalibrate the Aqua Rite to the proper salt reading and now everything is working correctly. It's just ashamed that the folks at the pool store couldn't tell me this. Thanks

metric readings - You are inadvertently switching between metric units and English units. To switch from metric to English or vice versa, push the display button until the temperature is displayed. Then move the main switch from AUTO to SUPER CHLORINATE and then back to AUTO. This will change the units for both temperature and salt level.

my reading was 3.8 when it should have been 2900 and my water temp was 17 and should have been 62. At the end of the calibration i continued to move switch from Auto to SuperChlorinate and the proper readings appeared.

John - I would suggest giving Hayward/Goddline a call at 866-772-2100. If the calibration sequence is not working, you may have a bad PC Board.

Worked the very first time I tried it. So me being block head I purposely recalibrated with wrong number of button pushes, didn't wait until I heard a click and generally tried to befuddle the works. I managed to "break it", but when I tried the steps this article suggests I was back in business once again.
Don't call the pool boy this one is super easy.
