What is the benefit of the clear solar blanket over the blue one?

First, the clear solar blanket is thicker than the blue; the clear is 12 mil thick while the blue is 8 mil. Secondly, the clear allows the sun to pass through the blanket thus heating the water better. The blue blanket tends to absorb the heat itself so the blanket gets hot, not the water. Lastly, the clear blanket has a 5 year warranty as opposed to the 3 year warranty for the blue.

Does the solar cover come with an overlap like a winter cover does?

No, the solar cover does not come with an overlap. A solar cover is designed to sit on top of the water's surface and fits on the inside perimeter of the pool wall.

LOVE this solar pool cover! It works so much better than the blue ones we've had in the past. It's thicker and a much better quality, and it really heats the water up perfectly. Very fast shipping, too! Highly recommend.

Pros: Heats faster, deeper. Thicker, more durable.
Cons: Thicker than the Blue so the edges have a tendency to not float on top of the water.
We have used the blue solar blanket in the past, this clear solar blanket heats our pool much faster. The clear blanket is much thicker and more durable.

Very glad I bought the solar blanket. It does extend swimming season by heating the pool water. It also reduces evaporation.
