Hi, Eric. It can, however, that will reduce your filtration capability. The Effective filtration area will drop from 3.5 to 1.4, the flow rate from 70 to 35. It will NOT be wise if you're keeping the same size pump. The correct replacement tank is P/N 145334.

Where do I find the number on my sand filter?

There should be a label on the side of the tank and the label will usually have a model name and number. If not, send us pictures of the filter and the top of the filter valve.
