Part # 58-355-5112
Manufacturer Code ES8648-E
Is there any additional parts needed to install this unit to make it operational? How long does it take to process an order and send the product? Is the unit basically put together or is there extensive work to do to make it operational?

The 58-355-5112 is actually an older discontinued model. The new part # is mfg # ES8848-E ( 58-355-2559 ) This system has gone thru many changes & no longer uses a pressure switch but now includes a dual sensor safety circuit, with Balboa controls that include a TP600 topside control. The pump model has changed to a Waterway Executive series. While it is considered a complete unit, there are specific installation requirements & depending on what state you live in it may require a licensed electrician to handle the electrical run & hookup. There is low-level programming that is done thru the pc board dip switches & the topside control. We really have to recommend you have a professional spa tech handle the installation. There are also other accessory options available, see snip images provided. These are never a stock item due to mfg warranty & are built on an as sold bases. There is a 2 - 3 week lead time.
Does this unit come complete or is there major wiring and constuction needed upon arrival? This unit includes a 2hp pump and a 1.5hp blower? Yes.

It comes as a complete "Kit", you will need to attach the plumbing parts supplied & of course the supply wiring as well as installing the topside control.

I have the electrical run for this unit. It would be replacing an older unit. How much knowledge do you need to install this unit. Can only a spa technician do it or can a everyday person install this unit?

Sorry but we really have to say it should be done by a professional. If you ran the electric on your own & it was done correctly to your states electrical code then you are probably capable to do the installation. Every state has their own codes & requirements. The installation should be the reverse of removing the old unit.

Your website shows a ES 8648-E unit that comes with a 5.5kw heater, 2.0 hp pump and 1.5hpblower. The installation guide is for a Es8748-E unit and one of your technician wrote me that the 8648 is old and discontinued. The new unit is a ES 8848- E. What is it and what is the installation guide for it? Looking for outside unit with a 5.5 kw heater, 2.0 go pump and 1.5 hp blower to replace an old hydroquip 8000 this system and what is the cost?

The difference is the old model # had Gecko electronics inside & used a pressure switch, the newer models have Balboa electronics & use a dual sensor technology with no pressure switch. The dual sensors also mean you do not have to have a sensor well in the plumbing or in the spa shell for a temp sensor as both temp & hi-limit are at the heater. It also uses a cat 5 style cable for the topside control instead of the older phone jack style. The reason they switched was due to the topside control & the fact that most of the topside cable runs are over 25' so the new cable style eliminated any communication glitches between the system & the remote topside. see this link https://www.manualslib.com/products/Hydroquip-Es8848e-10444832.html
