Yes the shower does have a base and it takes roughly 2 minutes for the shower to drain.

the bottom 1/2 of our solar shower we believe has a cracked housing as it leaks out of the handle area. can we just purchase the bottom portion? the one we have now is about 6 years old.

Hello Laurie, I apologize, but this is sold as one unit. Even though that it shows 2 pieces, it only comes together.
