I purchased Pal-Treo FPAL-C-TR lights in 2010. One of the lights is always on a real fast color change mode, so I need to replace it.
Mine were made by a company called Fiberstars. I understand that a different company makes those lights now. Will the current lights fit in the wall fitting that my lights use?
Thanks

Clyde, Zodiac now owns Fiberstars. The products have not changed so the newer lights will fit.

I was surprised to find out to replace the light required pulling out the light fixture and cabling all the way to the control box. I was concerned I might have trouble pulling the cable out. Estimated the cable distance to be about 70 feet so I selected the 80 foot replacement fixture.
The Treo LED Light comes with a 80’ or 150’ cable. To remove the fixture you grab the lens and rotate counter clockwise. If you cannot unscrew the fixture by hand you can use an oil filter wrench to get it started.
Probably best to be sure power is OFF and the cable at the control box is disconnected. In order to be able to pull the new cable in you need to attach a small rope to the end of the old light cable at the control box. Back at the fixture, unscrew until you can pull the fixture from the socket.
No need to be concerned about the water, the fixture socket and conduit is always filled with water. Now you pull the fixture and cable out. I guess because of the water in the conduit it is relatively easy to pull.
Always good to have a second person at the control box ensuring the cable and rope are feeding in the conduit without kinks. Once you have pulled the cable out and the rope in, you are almost ready to pull the new fixture and cable in. Disconnect the rope from the old cable and connect to the new cable. I used electrical tape, overlapped the rope and cable about 18 to 24 inches and wrapped with the tape.
Now pull from the control box and have your assistant ensure the new cable is going in the conduit at the pool without kinks. Probably a good idea to unroll the new cable so that you don’t introduce twists that can turn into a kink.
Once the new cable is in and the fixture pulled up to the socket, I rotated the fixture a couple of full turns counter clockwise before I engaged the threads on the socket and turned clocked wise to tighten the fixture. Hand tight is fine don’t use a tool to tighten.
Now trim your cable, with about 2 feet extra at the control box to allow the fixture to be removed and inspected in the future. Connect to the transformer output, turn the power ON and test your new light.
The fixture is supplied with instructions on how to operate the Treo LED Light in various modes, I use White Light mode. On inspection of my old fixture, I found a crack in the housing, certainly done when my light was installed...
