When should I change the sand in my filter?

You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

I understand S166T is no longer available. What do you recommend replacing it with.? I Have a 24 ft round above ground pool purchased from you in 2006. Filter system does not seem to work correctly since I have to vacuum almost every hour.

If you are having issues clearing the pool due to organics needing to be vacuumed out then consider vacuuming the pool while the valve is in the waste position which would discharge those materials from the pool completely.
