We currently have Spuerpump motor SP1605Z1M 3/4 HP. It is some distance from the pool and up hill. When the pool tech came to replace our light he saw the motor and suggested we get a more powerful one. We thought the 1.5 HP SPX1610Z1M might be a "drop-in" fit. I can find the specs. I tried to contact Hayward and they never answered. Anyone know if it is, in fact, a "drop-in" fit or where to find the specs for both motors so I can verify if it is a fit?

Hello Don. It is possible to upgrade the horsepower of your Hayward Super Pump utilizing the existing wet end by installing a new motor and drive train. Century 1.5 HP Round Flange 56J Up Rate Motor - UST1152 Generic Super Pump™ Style Drive Train UpGrade Kit 1.5 HP - 5110-53 Installing a new motor with greater horsepower by itself will not provide additional water flow. Only by changing the motor and drive train to the same rated horsepower can water flow be increased.
