What is the difference between the W490R and the W491R vac plate? Which one would work on my skimmer?

The only difference between the W490 and W491 is the skimmers in which they will work on. If you could provide us with the model of your current skimmer we could let you know which vac plate would work for you. You should be able to find a manufacture part # and name on the lid of the skimmer or on the weir door of the skimmer. If you could email us any this information we could reccomend the proper item. So I can use this part number w491r instead of the designated line for my pool cleaner?

Yes you can use this or possibly another skimmer vacuum plate depending on your skimmer model if you do not want to use your designated cleaner line.
