Jandy Ei Pool Chlorine Generator
The world's easiest to install operate and maintain chlorine generator.
The Jandy Ei is the latest product innovation from Jandy, the world's leading brand of salt chlorinator. The Jandy Ei has been designed with one goal in mind: to make chlorinating domestic swimming pools as easy as possible. From installation and set-up, right through to operation and maintenance, the Jandy Ei makes salt chlorination easy. It is ideal for those pool owners looking to trade-up from manual chlorine dosing or basic single polarity (non self cleaning) chlorinators.
The patented new design makes installation a breeze. Just drill a couple of holes and drive in a couple of screws.
The compact design and patented 'quick fit' clamping system mean that the Jandy Ei can turn your current manual chlorine pool into a safe, healthy saltwater pool on almost any filtration system. If you already have a salt pool and are looking to replace your tired old chlorinator, the Jandy Ei will easily fit onto your existing plumbing. You don't even need to take the old cell off. Just disconnect the power to the old unit, install the Jandy Ei unit alongside the old cell, plug it in and you are ready to go.
A simple, intuitive menu control makes operation easy as well. Simply set the clock and timers, add salt and you're done. Within 15 minutes you will have your new Jandy Ei up and running, all that's left to do is dive in. With just the touch of a button you can increase the chlorine output depending on how many people are in the pool or any other factors such as heat/rain etc. The control panel features warning indicators should any issues arise.
The Jandy Ei cell is equipped with true reverse polarity electrode plates. This means that any ongoing maintenance is kept to an absolute minimum as the unit performs a self cleaning cycle every few hours.
I have a pool that is about 10,000 gallons but I am thinking of buying a salt chlorine system for pools up to 20,000 gallons. Would the larger unit be a problem?
Reply
It is not a problem to oversize a salt system. It would take the larger unit less time to produce the necessary chlorine so it is actually more efficient. When the pool volume is very close to the capacity of the salt chlorine generator (for example, the pool is 18,000 gallons and the generator is rated at a maximum of 20,000 gallons), we would recommend going up to the next size generator.

Is the salt included with the salt chlorine generator?
Reply
No, salt is not included. You would purchase the salt locally and the quantity will depend upon the number of gallons of water in your pool. Use a salt that is at least 99.8% pure NaCl. The preferred salt is evaporated, granulated, food quality, and NON-iodized. Avoid using salt with anti-caking agents like sodium ferrocyanide, also known as yellow YPS (prussiate of soda). These cause some discoloration of fittings and pool surface finishes. DO NOT use calcium chloride.

On the Zodiac AquaPure Ei, how long is the clamp and how much straight pipe is required on the return line?
Reply
The clamp for the AquaPure Ei is approximately 7" long. 1-1/3' of straight pipe is recommended for installation of the cell on the return line.
Reply
Can the Zodiac AquaPure Ei be installed on 1.5" or 2" pvc pipe?
Reply
The Jandy AquaPure Ei can be installed on 1.5" and 2" pvc pipe. There is a spacer included to adapt to 1.5" pvc. The spacer is not required for installation on 2" pvc.

I have multiple rental properties with pools, Surprisingly, this has outlasted my more expensive Pentair Intellichlors and Hayward Chlorine Generators. The Jandy installs easily without unions, yet the cell can be removed easily and cleaned.

Pros: Easy instal
Cons: Quality issues...
So far I have been through two of these units in a months time. The first unit was an easy instal, if you have the space. All the info you see shows the control unit and cell. In addition you also have to install another flow sensor that is the size of the cell. You never see this in the promotional info. I think you need a total of 18-24 inches. After plugging the first unit in and attaching the wires that connect it to the iAqualink system, it came to life immediately. Worked flawlessly for the first 24 hours, then communication was lost between the ei system and the iAqualink. After several calls to Zodiac Systems, it was determined that since I am a homeowner, they will offer no assistance in troubleshooting. After talking to Inyo they decided to replace the unit. A replacement was sent out and installed. At first it didn't produce chlorine, I was told it because the water was too cold. Plausible, because after a few days it kicked in. That unit work great for about two weeks. Then yesterday, no power. Replaced two fuses and they blew instantly. Called Zodiac, and was informed that the power unit was bad. Will they send out a replacement? No. Need to have a service tech come out and say its dead, at my cost, they agree it's already dead. Then they will send out another unit, direct wire type (no longer support plug in units). This unit has to be installed, by a "professional", and paid by me. So it appears that it may end up costing me several hundred dollars to get this DIY unit working. Going to try to return unit and switch brands.

(4 out of 5 stars) So Far So Good !

Pros: Easy install - easy controls
Cons: Limited functions, and 110 modification required
Had a Zodiac DuoClear system that had multiple failures in one year. Spent $750 on repairs, and still needed $400 more to fix. Saw this system, and decided to replace old system. Had 1-1/2" pipe, so used the adapter included. Had to rewire my 220v box to add a 110v plug. Then installed plumbing parts and electrodes. First time I turned it on, it was leaking badly from "pod". I took this part off, and put back on once more - and everything running smoothly now. Total installation including rewiring breaker box and adding outlet and plumbing was about 1.5 hours. Working great so far - and very happy. Hoping I can sell my old system now.

(5 out of 5 stars) Nice Unit

Pros: Chlorine generating Capacity
Cons: Wish it was available at the same price in 220V
Bought and installed one of these units 6 weeks ago, Quick easy install, Generates more chlorine than any other manufactures units I've worked with. Pool size is 15,000 gallons, filter running 10 Hrs., Unit set at 20% and chlorine level is perfect. Will use this unit in all future installs. Had to supply 110 volt circuit as pool equipment was 220 volt and the 220 volt unit was double the price, but it was worth the trouble.
