On Pentair 520272 Temperature Sensor when do I know when is defective and if is, do I need to replace both, the solar and the water sensors?

Hi. You can test ohm resistance or compare the readings from what the sensor is registering to the actual temp.

The 521590 Pentair Solar touch is not working properly. The system status light is green (Normal) but I can not adjust the pool temperature. I feel that I need to replace the temperature sensors, the water sensor is connected to a pipe and the roof solar sensor is not connected to anything just laying there on the roof. Do I need to replaced the unit or both sensors?

Hi. If you're unable to increase or decrease the temperature, the sensors may not be the issue. Since the system does not detect an issue with the sensors you can manually test the sensors using the info on page 24 of the SolarTouch Solar System Installation/User Manual. You can replace both sensors if they're bad.

Have a GVA-24 Valve Actuator and the "heat light" does not come on in the control panel. The actuator works but it does not change rotation when you move the thermostat all the way up or down. Is this a internal problem or is it a roof sensor?

Pros: It works
Cons: Proper drill size?
Exact replacement for my Pentair EasyTouch system. Pentair does not state the drill size in the instructions. It's assumed for replacement only in an existing hole. In my case, I was moving the sensor. A 1/4" drill is too small and 5/16" is a hair too big, but it still sealed fine. It would be nice to know in the instruction what size drill Pentair recommends for a new install.

This sensor installed quickly. Make sure you de-energize the control panel prior to installation. There's plenty of wire length to position the sensor in a shaded area out of the direct sunlight.
