Certified for Code. Built to Last. Ready for Commercial Duty.

Raypak delivers unmatched performance and durability in its line of ASME-certified RP2100 gas pool heaters, purpose-built for public, commercial, and multi-family applications. With over 50 years in the boiler industry and state inspectors on-site daily, Raypak is the trusted standard in pool heating reliability and compliance.

Why Choose an ASME Pool Heater?

Certain jurisdictions require ASME certification for heaters used in commercial environments such as public pools, hotels, condominiums, and apartment complexes. ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) sets strict safety and performance standards, particularly around pressure ratings.

Each Raypak ASME-certified heat exchanger undergoes individual inspection and approval by a state inspector to ensure full compliance.

 Cast Iron Glass-Lined Header

Raypak applies its commercial boiler expertise to every ASME model, using cast iron glass-lined headers that withstand higher pressures. All header lots are lab-tested for stress and metal composition before approval — ensuring only the highest quality parts are used.

 All-Copper Fin Tube Heat Exchanger

Raypak ASME models come equipped with .065" wall integral copper finned tubes — over 50% thicker than standard residential tubing. The fins are part of the same copper tube (not attached separately), maximizing heat transfer and longevity. This is the same industrial-grade tubing used in Raypak’s large commercial boilers.

CPVC 2” Water Connections

Every RP2100 includes 2” CPVC slip-fit water unions for quick, secure installation. These screw into the flanged header, or you can direct-plumb copper for a custom fit.

Condensation Protection (Unitherm Governor)

Included on every model, the Unitherm Governor functions like a built-in automatic bypass, maintaining internal temperatures above 105°F to prevent condensation and prolong heater life.

Handles High Flow Rates

With an internal bypass valve rated up to 125 GPM, the RP2100 can accommodate high-flow pool systems and large circulation pumps with ease — no external valves needed.

Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/16/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

What is the difference between an Electronic and Millivolt ignition?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/10/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The basic answer is that Millivolt is the old style of ignition, using a standing pilot light. While the electronic ignition uses a spark start system like a gas grill. Electronic ignitions are more efficient in gas usage and also are better suited for high wind areas where a pilot light might get extinguished.

What is A.S.M.E. ?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/10/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

A.S.M.E., stands for American Society of Mechanical Engineers. This group has laid out certain design criteria that would protect it’s industry and insures that products meets all ASME standards. Some states or counties may require the use of A.S.M.E. heat exchangers usedin pool heaters. The ASME copper finned tubes are thicker than the standard copper finned tubes used on residential pool heaters.

What are the physical dimensions of the Raypak 206,000 BTU unit and the 266,000 unit so I can determine which one will fit in the space in my mechanical room? Also what is the cost of the 206,000 unit?
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/14/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi. The physical dimensions are listed on the RP Series Technical Data Sheet. The price of the other models are listed on the Raypak Heaters ASME page.

Different between a pool heater and a heat pump thank you
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/8/2022 by InyoPools Product Specialist Craig C.

Hello Enrique.  Heat Pumps capture heat energy from the surrounding ambient air and then transfer it to the pool/spa water circulating through its heat exchanger.  A Pool Heater uses the combustion of propane or natural gas to generate heat and then transfers it to the pool/spa water circulating through its heat exchanger.  Attached please find a brief tutorial on the topic of Heaters and Heat Pumps.  A Swimming Pool Heater or Heat Pump?
