MAX-E-PRO PUMPS By Sta-Rite
SUPERIOR HYDRAULIC DESIGN MOVES MORE WATER, RESULTING IN LOWER ELECTRICAL COSTS
This new high efficiency, low maintenance pump is designed for maximum performance for the modern pool. Advanced state-of-the-art hydraulics means that Max-E-Pro delivers more water resulting in lower electrical costs. It will keep your pool crystal clear as well as run your automatic cleaner and any other hydraulic accessories around your pool. Not only is this pump energy efficient, it is ultra quiet. Special dampening in and around the pump’s base makes Max-E-Pro one of the quietest pumps in its class.
The extra large 6” trap collects more debris, allowing you to clean the trap less often. Our clear see-thru lid allows you to check for debris without removing the lid. The new Quick-Lock trap cover ring makes loosening or tightening the trap a cinch. Max-E-Pro is self-priming and produces enough suction to lift water 5-feet above pool level. Large 2” ports include external and internal threads to adapt to a variety of pipe sizes.
The Max-E-Pro is built to last, constructed of Sta-Rite’s glass reinforced resin that is corrosion-proof and can withstand many years of U.V. sunlight. This season, invest in the energy efficient, low-maintenance pump that really moves the water – Max-E-Pro by Sta-Rite. 110/230V UL Listed and NSF. Backed by a 1-Year Warranty.

I have this pump, I need a replacement motor and o-ring set only. The 1.5hp motor that comes up on your site does not show it is for the Max_E_Pro and doesn't have the starter capacitor on top, the 2HP looks right and shows Max_E_Pro, but I'm not positive.
What do I need?
Thanks

Hi Christopher, The A.O. Smith 1 1/2 H.P Square Flange Full Rate Motor (SQ1152) and the Sta-Rite Max-E-Pro Tune Up Kit (GOKIT79) would be the correct replacement motor and kit for this pump.

I bought this pump 6 years ago. it has been working fine until now. the pump will run fine for about 3 to 4 hrs and it kicks the breaker off and pump cuts off. The next day . I cut the breaker back on , it runs for a couples of hours and it kicks the breaker off and cuts off. I feels the pump and it feels hot.
the breaker is a 20 amps. the electrician tested it and said the pump was pulling what it was suppose to. This is a 1 AND 1/2 hp pump . The pool is an in ground , 20,000 gal. Help!

Irene, It sounds like the thermal overload or the capacitor can be the issue. You can try replacing the capacitor to see if resolves the issue.

what is the flow rate?
Reply
The flow rate is defined as such: A term used to determine the amount of water that flows past a certain point within a specified amount of time. Gallons per minute is the usual measurement and is known as GPM. A 10,000-gallon pool with medium usage needs to have a flow rate of 20.8 gpm for proper turnover.

Hello, Mike. This may be a great pump for your pool size or it could be a bit of an overkill. I best recommend reviewing our How to Size a Pool Pump for Your In-Ground Pool guide and video.

If So Cost

Hi, Lonnie. The pump is not going to be noise unless something is trapped in it. The noise may be coming from the motor. We do have the replacement motor and parts but not the complete unit. The replacement motor and parts are listed on the Sta-Rite Dyna-Glas and Dyna-Max Parts Diagram page.

Pros: works well
Cons: expensive
It seems to work very well...it is noisier than the pool pump/motor we replaced. One reason for choosing this particular pump/motor was its claim of being quiet.

(3 out of 5 stars) sta rite maxi pro pump

Only giving pump 3 stars since it was defective initially. be sure to check the impeller where it slides in to the diffuser as mine had a piece of plastic that caused damage to both parts...things happen. I had a Sta-Rite that preformed flawlessly for 11 years so with the new replacement parts I'll be expecting the same service.

after wireing the pumb, we started the pump up and it ran about 10 sec and froze up. We took the houseing apart and the impeller had melted in the brass bushing. We cleaned the bushing out and polished the plastic impeller nose to remove the melted plastic and applied some grease in the busing and reasembled. Its running fine now. It might be a good idea to apply some grease in the bushing at assembly to keep this from happeing in the future. A little grease goes a long ways to keep this from happeing to your pumbs. I know your direction say not to start the pump up dry but 10 sec of running should not freaze the pumb up. It should also be noted that the brass bushing was out of round approx .010. It looked as if it had been installed incorrectly. Just a little history of myself. I have been in the business of machining and welding for 31 years. I employ 18 people doing cnc turning and milling along with repair of pumbs and gearboxes so i do know what i am taking about. Should you want to discuss this furture, please call Darryl Jones at J & R Machine Inc. 219-996-5520. Just to note: After cleaning and filing of the impeller, and applying a little grease around the nose of the impeller, the pumb is running fine and has been runnning good for 5 days now.

(5 out of 5 stars) Swimming pool pump

Pros: Best brand of pumps around
I have been using sta rite pumps for over 30 years. I have 9 pumps for an aquaculture business and 1 for my swimming pool. One pump has over 15,000 hours on it and is used for salt water. As for maintenance, we replace the water seals yearly on pumps we use with salt water.
