can you use this for a small in groung pool

Hi Kathy, unfortunately, you cannot use this pool pump for an in-ground swimming pool. You will need to use an inground style pool pump. Here is a guide that we put together called "How to Size a Pool Pump for Your In-Ground Pool" that should help.
