Please note that capacitors store an electric charge and should be handled with the utmost caution and care. We do not encourage handling a capacitor without any type of safety measures in place and highly recommend contacting a professional service company for repair/replacement. For those that feel comfortable changing the capacitor here's >How to replace a pool pump capacitor. In order to match up the capacitor you will need more specifications on the capacitor. You will need to match the voltage, the MFD, whether or not the capacitor is a >run or >start type and the actual dimensions of the capacitor body.

My Polaris Booster pump does not start on its own now. I disconnected the motor from the pump and when I turn it on, it hums, I spin it manually and it goes. I shut if off and when I turn it on just before it stops spinning, it starts, but if it stops, it does not start. It is a 1081 Zodiac booster 3/4hp ABS625 230V with a run capacitor of 370V and 35 mfd.Should it have a start capacitor rather than a run cap? It runs without a run cap, when I manually spin it.

Hi, Steve. It appears that the manufacturer of the motor you have uses a Run Capacitor instead of a start capacitor. The symptoms are the same if a start or run capacitor fails.
