We have a 2004 fiberstar unit and a rodent has damaged the wiring to most/all of the components. So, assume that I have the rigid cover and the fiber lines installed, but would need to replace the electrical components (fan, color wheel assembly, lamp socket, and transformer). What course of action would you recommend - purchase a new unit? If a new unit, would a more recent model set on the pedestal and work with the current port assembly? There are 4 lines running to lamp sockets.

Hi Cheryl, We would suggest going with a completely new unit as this will be your least expensive option and the easiest route from an installation standpoint. I would suggest the newer 6004 Fiberstars Illuminator which will easily handle your existing fiber optic cables, the 6004 illuminator uses a metal halide lamp which is brighter than the halogen lamp used in the 2004 illuminator and the lamp also lasts longer before needing to be replaced.

Have Fiberstars 2004-AS installed in 2007 when pool constructed. Barely used lights at all. The light comes on when unit turned to on position but after toggling switch, the color wheel will not rotate. Any suggestions … possible motor problem?

Hi, Julie. The issue could be the fuse or motor.
