(5 out of 5 stars) Fantastic Tool - Worked when others wouldn't
Reviewed By: Robert from Montvale, NJ ()
Pros: Metal, Fits Perfectly, Does Not Deform
I had an eyeball seat installed by a pool company during opening that would not budge when I was trying to close my above ground pool. I initially tried using the plastic Hayward Ball Seat Removal Tool (sp1419t) with a pair of vice grips for leverage, but the eyeball inlet would not budge and the plastic removal tool actually deformed. Faced with paying a $120 service charge for a pool company to come out and remove the seat, I decided to try this metal seat removal tool. Viola! It worked! I used this tool in conjunction with a 12" pipe wrench for leverage, and the insert begrudgingly came out. I will be sure to use teflon tape on the winterizing plug and on the eyeball seat going forward, but this metal tool definitely saved the day.

(5 out of 5 stars) Works! Much better than OEM tool
Reviewed By: FredPoolFool from New York ()
Pros: Steel construction - not plastic
I bought the OEM tool (Hayward SP1419T) tool which is made of plastic. It may be OK for new installations - but it was not up to the job of removing a seat that has seen any use. In fact it broke on its first use. For a few bucks more this G&P tool from Inyo got the job done on the first turn - and has a nice T-Handle so you can actually grip it and apply torque.
