water shoots out of tube going to pool by thermostate on heat exchanger what is causing that and could it be just a gasket

You would have to take the heat exchanger apart to see where its leaking from. You can try replacing the Heat Exchanger Gasket and see if that solve the problem.

When water is going through the heating system it knocks like steam in a radiator when cold water and hot water meets.

The knocking sound you hear is the water boiling inside the heater. It is generally caused by a lack of water flow through the heater.Clean your pool filter, empty the skimmer basket(s), clean the pump basket, and anything else that might restrict the flow of water though your system.

Heater knocks loudly about 1 minute after being turned on. I have excellent flow through the heater and filter. Had a repair man look at it and he stated that the diverter inside my inlet pipe broke at the welds and that is what I also see. Can this be welded? Or do I need a complete heater exchange assembly. The model number is H1001D1 & ABG1001

Hello David, it will be best to replace Heat Exchanger, Heat Exchanger, H-series Above Ground (idxhxa1101) Rather they welding a peice in that unit.

I have a hayward pool heater H1001D that I converted to propane. Worked great last year. Now upon started it up, I hear a banging.. I think it's from the tubing of the heat ex-changer where the water pressure switch is and the limit switches are.... What is the problem and the repair, thank's.. Karen

Hello, A common cause would be insufficient water flow through the heat exchanger. You can try back washing the filter thoroughly and see if that helps.

Do you know the thread size of the 3 holes on the 2 1/2” tubing?

Hi, Wayne. This tubing is welded to the large header assembly, only the inlet and outlet ends are threaded. I'm not sure of the thread size.
