Product Description

PureLine Replacement Diverter with Spider Gasket for Hayward SP0714T Valve - Comparable to Hayward SPX0714CA

This is the PureLine Replacement Diverter and Spider Gasket for the Hayward SP0714T Valve. Normally when you start to see leaking from your backwash port this is a sign that your spider gasket has gone bad and this valve diverter assembly needs to be replaced.

This Diverter assembly includes the diverter with the 4-spoke spider gasket glued in and is used on the Hayward Multiport VariFlo XL 1.5" valve.  The model number for the valve is SP714T, also listed as SP0714T.  The valve is used on various Hayward top-mount sand filters.  The spider gasket is not available separately and can only be purchased as part of this diverter assembly. This is an After-Market part and not the O.E.M original by Hayward.

There is in fact a trick. This " How To " should show you a very helpful tip into putting the pin back into the handle.

My handle broke of when I tried to move it. Is this the part that I need to put the handle back on?

Hi, If you have the SP0714T Valve and the handle is in good condition but the part that the handle is connect to is broken then yes. If the handle is broken then you will need to replace the Handle-SPX0710XF.

1 - Remove Valve screws and pull out assembly.
2 - Use hammer and Nail set to knock pin out of handle releasing old Diverter
3 - Unless your spring is worn you may have difficulty putting it back together (I replaced with a fresh spring at the same time). I found it necessary to use two clamps to squeeze down the spring pulling the two parts together enough so I could then align the holes on the handle with the hole on the Diverter. This allowed me to put the pin through and tap it in place. Without clamps I am not sure how I would have done it (don't understand how other DIY stories skip this - without clamps or a friend not sure how I would have gotten it back together - without clamps it requires two hands to squeeze the two parts together evenly (I didn't do this initially and broke the part) and then a third hand to put the pin through).
4- Once re-assembled - screw back into place - make sure all gaskets are in place - and lube them if desired.
