The lid on my Pentair literally blew apart

After coming home one day to find my pool almost eight inches lower than it had been when I left for work... and finding water all over my yard...I discovered that the sun's rays had degraded the Pentair's lid so much that it had ruptured almost the entire circumference around the lid just above the band. I disabled the pump timer so it wouldn't run in the meantime. The band and gasket were still intact, so I ordered a new lid (and a new air relief manual valve assembly--easier than trying to swap out the old one). Once it arrived, it was a simple matter of installing the air assembly and gauge into the lid and then plopping the new lid down on the old gasket and tightening the clamp. I then turned the pump timer back on and bled air out of the filter until water came through, closed the bleed valve, and let the filter go back to its job of filtering my pool.
