Product Description

Dual Speed Toggle Switch - 79129900

Toggle Switch Wiring Instructions :

230 VAC Wiring
As you know in a 230 VAC configuration there is no "Neutral" or sometimes called a "Common" wire. Both of the "Supply" or "Source" wires carry voltage. Actually 115 VAC each, Hence 230 VAC. But remember that the two 115 VAC wires are 180 degrees "Out of Phase". Also explained in "The Manual"

One of the supply wires is connected to the L2 connection of the pump. The other supply wire is toggled between the low and high speed connection on the Pump to change speeds and is controlled by whatever, IntelliTouch, Intermatic.................In fact you could accomplish this with two toggle switches, or two relays :)

115 VAC wiring
Every thing is the same EXCEPT, The second supply wire is the "Neutral" or "Common" wire. We only have one 115 VAC supply wire.

Will this work with a B2982 pump?

No, the actual switch that would work with this model pump is the part number 2512558-001 which has a 2-3 week lead time.

Does the clear crimped cap on the black wire just get cut off to expose the wire and attach to wire in motor?

Hi, Kent. The black wire of the switch gets one of the 115 volts line of the 230 power.

Thank you, but my question is do i simply cut off the plastic crimped cap that came with the item? I understand what it connects to, but is the plastic cap simply for protection of the wire until ready to install?

Kent, Yes, you can remove it or you can use it. It acts as a wire nut.

Can you convert a single-phase motor into a dual-speed with this switch? Pentair 178452 03 is the motor I have. It is a 2.5 hp. Thank you.
