What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

This motor seems to be a match for mine (K48L2PA101). Are any required gaskets, etc included? Also, can I upgrade the replacement motor to variable speed and/or 2 HP?
Reply
Hi Jerry, yes this motor is a match for your K48L2PA101 motor. The gaskets and seals are not included with the motor as this motor is used on several different pumps and we would need your pump information to get you the proper gaskets and seals. You could upgrade your motor to a Variable Speed Replacement Motor this would save you quite a bit on your pool pump operational costs.

Pool water dropped below skimmer and pump will not turn on. We think we need to replace the motor but first should we start with checking the capacitor? What would be the correct motor replacement and/or capacitor? No sound from the motor when the switch is turned on. It is a Pentair Sta-Rite P6E6E-206L Max-E-Pro Energy Efficient Single Speed Full Rated Pool and Spa Pump, 1 HP, 115/230-Volt.

Hi Stephanie, from what you are describing we would suggest replacing your motor with the QC1102 1 HP Energy Efficient Full Rate Replacement Motor and you will also need a Max E Pro Seal Kit.

I have a century QC1102 CET38ABN pump nd it is leaking from the front seal plate. Do you have the gasket for the seal plate?
Hello William, in order to confirm any seals and gaskets for your pump you will need to know the front pump housing model. Here is our "Finding the Tune-Up Kit for Your Pool Pump" guide that we put together that should assist you with that.
