Breather 3 Features:

Meets the requirements of ANSI / ASME A112.19.17 and complies with ANSI / APSP-7Sequence of Events – Breather 3 Electrical Automatic or Manual reset

Vacless Electrical Breathers provide immediate vacuum relief upon entrapment by allowing atmospheric air to rapidly fill the pump pot while simultaneously turning off the pump. Electrical units include a three minute time delay restart and audible alert.

The pump starts and runs the normal filtration cycle using 110VAC, 220VAC or 3 PH power supply. After 15 seconds, utilizing a delay relay, a 5-10V DC circuit becomes energized. Upon entrapment, the vacuum level inside the pot is elevated creating a differential pressure across the seal. Atmospheric air pushes the seal compressing a spring until the O-Ring crosses grooves that allow atmospheric air to rapidly fill the pot making the pump loose prime quickly freeing the entrapment. The entire travel of seal occurs within milliseconds causing the shoulder to strike a pin plunger of a snap acting normally closed electrical switch to the open position. The plunger will spring back momentarily to normal operating condition. As the plunger is depressed, the 28V DC control circuit becomes open and causes a normally closed switch to open and turn the pump off. To prevent false shutdown of the pump during start-up surges the 5-10V DC control circuit is equipped with a delay relay. This relay is responsible for postponing the energizing of the 5-10V DC transformer and precludes switching off the pump even if the plunger is depressed.

Functions:

Vacless Safety Vacuum Release Systems not only provide added safety against suction entrapment, but they also act as a drain winterization device a surge suppressor extending the life of your pool equipment. This valve is directly attached to the pump by removing the suction side drain plug and installing this SVRS in its place. All of our valves are designed for use on 0.5 to 10.0 horsepower pumps for small and large water recreational installations including hot tubs, spas, fountains, wading residential or commercial pools.

The anti entrapment safety function is achieved by allowing ambient air to rapidly fill the pump suction side, in the event of a high vacuum occurrence, causing it to loose prime providing for the quick release of an entrapment.

The surge suppressor function is achieved by arresting the sudden vacuum rise while the seal is momentarily depressed allowing for quick air gasps. At this role, the valve protects the pump filtration equipment against shocks and vibrations during pump start-ups leading to reduced maintenance costs, less down time, and longer equipment life.

The winterization function is achieved by simply removing the SVRS until all of the water in the pump is fully drained.

Operation:

Due to the specific nature of the centrifugal pumps, normally installed on swimming pools, spas and hot tubs; high vacuum levels are created at the pump inlet port. Once an obstruction exists anywhere in the pump suction side, high vacuum is created. The vacuum force will cause instantaneous displacement of the sealing element allowing air to rapidly flow thru air channels causing the pump to loose prime for an instantaneous release of the entrapment. Our electronic models will additionally trigger a limit switch sending al signal to the control panel turning off the circulation pump simultaneously.

Vacless SVRS valves will adjust themselves to any existing pool piping configuration and filtration system with our adjustable models allowing suction relief for even the most unusual applications compliance tested up to 200 feet. The secret is an innovative proprietary seal design that compensates pneumatically to any pool system variations using a 0.5 to 10.0 horsepower pump. This orthogonal seal system comprises a rubber o-ring that is mounted on a moving disc and positioned in such a way to perform dual face and radial sealing. The face sealing is responsible for blocking the atmospheric air from entering the pump during normal operation and the radial sealing is responsible for the seal travel until it releases air into the pump pot.
