Can I use this w560 leaf cannister to keep leaves from getting into my lines or pump basket?
Reply
Yes this leaf cannister amongst a few other ones are designed to catch leaves and larger debris. This keeps debris from reaching plumbing lines, pump baskets and it even makes emptying it out easier being that it is right at pool level.

So I would attach this to my normal vacuum hose between this and the suction hole by basket?
Reply
Hi Glen, This leaf canister would work with an automatic pool cleaner and not a manual vac that you attach to the end of a telescopic pole. So if you have an automatic pool cleaner then yes you would be correct, this leaf canister would fit between two sections of hose near your skimmer.

Do you have a leaf canister that works with a manual vac?

Hi Van, The Pentair Leaf Trap 186A will work with a manual vac system.

Why will one work with manual and not the other if just put between hoses?

Do you have replacement mesh bags for this leaf canister? If so what will they cost?

The cmp leaf canister for $59.99 sound like it might be easier to clean then the w530, is it? the cmp does not mensching about the bag is it a material and where would you get replacement.

Hi Bill, I don't think one canister is easier to clean over the other. The bag is made from a nylon material and you can get the replacement bags via the CMP Leaf Canister Parts.

The handle on my Hayward canister snaped off. Replacing it was going to cost $130 at the local pool store. I found this canister for much less and decided to give it a try. After 2 weeks it's doing ok, but I do worry about it longevity. Only time will tell. Also, the bag is smaller but it doing a good job catching debris.
