I have a 15x36 approx Roman shape pool, to use the 16 mil cover cut to fit will I need a 20' reel Can it be shortened to 16 ' width?

Yes, you will require the use of the 20' Typhoon Solar Cover Reel - 55-2004TY that includes the 4" tube. Yes, you are able to adjust the reel width up to 20'.

We bought this reel to replace the same model we received when we put in our pool 11 years ago. The aluminum reels on the old model eventually broke. Our pool is slightly less than 600 sq ft, but because we use a heavier mill cover (16) we followed the recommendation to buy the system that uses 4” diameter aluminum reels. My husband assembled the system and it works very well; much more smoothly and easily than the old 3” reels. Our only issue was what we believe is a possibly a design flaw. When my husband twisted the reels for assembly as per the directions, the long screws that were included did not seem to be long enough to engage the bolt at the other end after drilling the holes. My husband simply added holes in different locations where the reels where fitted together were not as thick. In any event, it works very well with the extra weight of the 16 mill cover for our 16x36 pool.
