*Caution: Do not add more than 20 oz. per 10,000 gallons of water at one time. If the pool needs more than this, add the 20 oz. then retest 4-6 hours later. After testing, you can make the necessary adjustments
For More Pool Chemicals
My pool water is very cloudy and has algae in it so we super shocked it. Now the chlorine and pH are really high. I want to put a pH decreaser in it but we are having people over? Is it safe to swim or do we have to wait?

If the pH and chlorine are high, I would not recommend anyone swimming in the pool. The quickest way to lower both chemicals without adding more chemicals (More chemicals may add to the cloudiness) is to partially drain and refill the pool. You will want to keep everyone out of the pool until the levels are back within range.

My alkalinity is 240 ppm and my pH is a 6.8. I've added a decent amount of acid to get to this point and obviously need to do some more adjusting. Is there anything else I can use aside from the acid?

At this point, I would recommend partially draining the pool and refilling with fresh water. The amount of acid you will need to add (depending on pool size) will bottom out the pH making the water very acidic. Partially draining and refilling will probably be a little quicker considering the fact that tap water is usually pH neutral.

Pros: delivered to door and doesn't splash.
Cons: sometimes their are lumps
Here in South Florida we have well water. High PH and alkalinity. that combined with salt system that seems to push up the ph and we need to add lots of ph decreaser. Inyo pools is so convenient delivered right to my door and wei don't have to go to the local pool store and get the nasty liquid acid that splashes on our clothes and skin..
