What is the difference between an inline and offline chlorinator?
Reply
An inline chlorinator would be plumbed directly inline with the plumbing. For an existing pool, this would mean a section of pipe would need to be cut out to install the chlorinator. An offline chlorinator attaches to existing plumbing by chlorinator tubing (holes would be drilled into existing pipe to attach the tubing.)

Product info says can be connected to 1 1/2" plumbing. Does that really make any difference since it is supposed to be an off-line chlorinater? My plumbing is 2".
Reply
Yes it does make a difference as the clamps are for 1.5" plumbing.

I have a really hard time getting the top off of the 9 Lb Off Line Chemical Feeder - 165012. I do have the plastic wrench that is designed to get the top off but I still have issues. Any suggestions?
Also, will you be running a sale any time soon on the Rayvac pool heaters?

Hello, Ted. It may be that the O-Ring 165911 needs to be replaced. I recommend opening the Drain Plug - 165914 before removing the lid, this will help relieve some pressure. Click here to view Ocean Blue Models 165010 & 165012 Parts Diagram.

Because I was replacing the unit, I did not have to drill into the pipes to attach the hoses, however, assuming you have a drill and the correct size bit, it would be easy to do so. Attaching the clamps is simple too.
To assemble the unit:
I screwed in the reducers that enabled use of the small 'offline' hoses. I installed crimping nuts onto all hose ends and installed the self clamping connectors into the reducers. The connectors look very similar, but one has a back-flow bead in it, which goes on the outflow side of the unit. Next, I inserted the tubes into the pipe clamps and the reducers, tightening the nuts to clamp and hold the hose connections.
After testing the unit, I needed to tighten a few parts, and was able to create a seal at all connection points.
All needed parts came with the unit.
Note: The unit cover requires a lubricant to act as a seal. I comes lubricated, but over time will need to be applied again.
