What is the difference between a GLX-CELL-5, and a GLX-CELL-5W?
Reply
The GLX-CELL-5 cell comes with a 3 year manufacture warranty, where the GLX-CELL-5W, only comes with a 1 year manufacture warranty.

Hi Rudy, this would be the correct replacement cell for your AQ-Trol-RJ. At one point this cell was labeled T-CELL-5 however Hayward recently changed the part # to GLXCELL5.

I have an Aqua Rite 20 with a t-5 cell. The software Revision is 1.4. Will this cell work as a replacement?

Hi Dave, The AquaTrol & AquaRite 20K Replacement Cell Only will be the correct replacement if you already have a T-5 Cell.

Does a t-cell 5 ever expire or do they need to be changed ?
Reply
I found this that explains the situation very well - "The cell is the part of the system that actually converts Salt (NaCl) to Chlorine. Water passes through the cell and over solid titanium plates that are coated with either ruthenium or iridium, which are naturally occurring metals. As a charge is sent to the cell from the control board and electrolysis occurs resulting in the production of chlorine. Eventually the metallic coating on the cells erodes away, requiring the cell to be replaced, but there are several factors that impact how long your cell could last. "

I currently have a GLX Turbo cell - 15 but I see on your site that it is associated with 40,000 gallon pools and that a T cell - 5 is for 20,000 gallon pools. My pool is 10,500. Shouldn't I replace my T15 with a T 5?
Reply
You could go with a smaller cell, but we always suggest going with the T-15. With a pool your size, you can run the T-15 at 35% which would be equal about 70% on a T-5.Running the cell at a lower output will make the cell life longer.

Is the GLXCell5 an exact replacement for the Mineral Springs by BioGaurd T-Cell 5 that I bought with my pool in 2009?
Reply
Hi Artie, The Turbo Cell GLXCELL5 will replace the T-Cell 5 on the Mineral Springs by BioGaurd chlorine generator.

Hello,
I installed a pool last year and the salt cell is T-CELL-5. What is the life expectancy? And if it is still good to reinstall for this summer is there any preparation or cleaning of the cell I should do before installation when I open the pool? Thanks in advance!!
Reply
Hello Jo Ellen, The life expectancy of a T-5 Cell (if matched to the correctly sized pool) will be at least 3 years, but could extend for more. You will want to inspect the inside of the cell for any debris or calcium build up, and clean it out before re-installing it. You can visit our How To Clean a Hayward AquaRite Turbo Cell if you have additional questions.

Hello, I have an Aqua Trol with a tcell5 which cracked. Can I which to a tcell3? Size of pool is under 11000gallons? My Aqua Trol is rl1.45.

Julie, I would not recommend changing the cell to the TCELL3. I would recommend replacing it with the same cell you have now.

We have an Aqua Logic Goldline salt system from 2007. The current salt cell is a t-5 turbo cell - turbulent flo chamber. The pool is inground and 14,000 gallons. What do I replace it with? Is the t-5 only for above ground pools as I have been reading? Should I go up to a higher cell so then it will run less to extend the life of the cell?
Reply
Hi Janet, If you currently have a T-Cell 5 you can replace it with the same size cell. If you would like a larger cell you will have to make sure that your firmware is compatible with the larger cell.

I'm needing to replace my cell. Right now I have a Hayward Goldline T-CELL-5 for an above ground pool up to 20,000 gallons. Which cell should I purchase?

I need to buy a replacement AquaTrol T-CELL-5 generator because the old one I had stopped working. I found the item on your web site. Once I connect it up to my pool, and connect it up to the control panel box, is there anything else I need to do? Will the new chlorine generate automatically start working with the existing control panel box I have?
Reply
Yes, after you hook the new cell up it is supposed to start generating with the control panel.

I have a Hayward GLX-CELL-5 that needs to be replaced. Is that the only kind of cell I can buy to replace it.

You can replace it with the different AquaRite size but when installing you have to make sure to change the setting on your board otherwise it will not work.

My cell has writing on it that says the cell has to be installed in a vertical position. iv'e visited all my friends and all of their cells, which are the same model as mine, are installed horizontally. Can I do the same?
Reply
Hi, Randall. You have the RJ model so it does not require a flow switch. Your cell can not be installed horizontally.

I have an Aqua Rite XL which I believe we installed in 2009. The firmware is 1.4 and the model number is 3A0906-1058650. It needs a new cell and I don't know what type to order.

My T Cell 5 doesn't read salt content correctly. My pool supply says my level is 3200 and the read out says 2200. Won't generate now. Cleaned cell with acid/water and try to re-adjust salt level. Still no luck. Started a year or more ago where it started reading lower than the test. Is replacement cell my only option at this point?
Reply
Robert- It sounds like the cell is going back, I would take your cell to a store that can test it and have it tested twice. If it fails then obviously the cell needs to be replaced. If it passes the stores TDS meter could be faulty.

I have a splash clear collection turbulent flow chamber labeled sp-18 also says electrolytic cell my instruction booklet says aqua troll by gold line controls. Inside the salt water generator it also says use with t-cell-5 so would the part # glxcell5 be the right part to replace it with?

I have a TurboCell GLX 15w for my 17,500 gallon pool. Is there a more affordable replacement? It is about 5 years old and does not generate chlorine.

Hi, Doug. You can save on upfront cost by going with a smaller cell if your system has a software revision of 1.5 or higher.

How can I check if my cell (thurbo cell 5) is working and generate salt properly?

Hi. You can take the cell to an authorized repair center to have it check out. You can also check the cell voltage, cell amps to make that there in range.

what is the flow direction when installed vertically (18 ft. above ground - model 5)? No instruction in the replacement unit and the unit does not indicate flow direction.

Moved in 7 years ago - salt system was already here and have never replaced cell. Now it is finally dying. All the current cell says is "Hayward Swimpure." Controller is Aquarite, software version 1.4. Pool is in-ground, 17,500 gal. What is the correct replacement cell that will be compatible?

Hi, David. Based on the software revision, your system can only use the Turbo Cell T-15 - W3T-CELL-15.

I have a Goldline Aqua Rite system with a T-cell 9. The salt level is miss reading and the cell isn't working very well. It's about 6 years old. What are my options? The pool holds 12,000 gallons. Thanks

Hi Chris, At 6 years it would definitely be time to replace your salt cell and you would need this W3TCELL9 AquaRite Replacement Cell if after replacing your cell if the issue persists then you will also need this Aquarite Main PCB Board

Good Afternoon, Would a bad cell give a false salt reading. I checked my Aqua Trol last week and it it was at 1500 for salt I added salt and it went up to 1900, then 2400. So I added another bag to get between the 26-3200 range and it dropped back to 1900, then 1500, and now 1100. I took a water sample to the pool supply and it checked at 5200. Way too high. Checked the cell, it looks good, no scaling that I could see. Would it be a bad cell control panel? Photos are of what I am using.
Hi David, this sounds as if the cell could be failing. These cells last on average of about 2 seasons. You can have these tested at some local pool retailers for free. I would recommend starting there.

I need to purchase a new cell and your site indicates a 3 year warranty. How are warranties handled when purchasing thru your site? Are they sent back to you?

I have a Hayward AQ-TROL-RJ running software version 1.45. I have been using a Blue Works salt generator for a couple of years and it appears to have quit working. I am wanting to go back to a Hayward generator but do not know what T-Cell I originally had. My pool is 13,500 gal. What is my best alternative for a new T-Cell (I understand using a larger capacity will prolong life of cell). So what size do you recommend and which cell will work with my controller?
Thank you.
