What size pool will this heat/cool? and will it run a salted pool, mine is 25,000 gallons.
Reply
Good afternoon Chris, This unit will work, if you want the cooling feature. If the heat feature is more important than I would recommend the 140,000 BTU unit. Heat pumps pull heat from the air so if your in an area that is below freezing this is not for you. All Heat pumps have Titanium heat exchangers so this will hold up the best for salt pools. If you have any other questions feel free to call. We are open Monday through Friday 9am-6pm Eastern time.

Re: Hayward Heat Pro Heat Pump 120,000 BTU Heat/Cool - HP31204T
my inground is about 25' x 14' and is 4.5' deep throughout. Is this the correct size for my pool? or would it be more efficient to get more BTU?

will the Model HP31204T work ok with an above ground pool, water level above heat exchanger ?
Reply
Yes, that heat pump will work great with an above ground pool. Just make sure you have the correct electrical hook ups for that heat pump.

i have inground pool 30 x approx 13 x 3.5' shallow/6' deep, roughly 12K-13K gallons, 120,000 heat/ cool or 140K heat should be the corrrect size?

Hi Brian, If you are in a warmer climate like Florida, California, Arizona, etc.. then this 120,000 BTU unit would be sufficient. If you are in a cooler climate like the Northeast or Midwest then I would suggest this Hayward 140,000 BTU Heat Pump but please note that the 140,000 unit does not have the cooling feature only heating.

How many amps does the HP31204T draw?
Do you have a recommended installer in Austin, TX?

This unit can use between 48-60 amps and the max overload recommended breaker size is 60. We recommend using any certified pool contractor(CPC) for installation of these units.

We just finished our 20x40 pool and located in middle TN. I had the contractor install a 140k btu heater which works great but we have had a very unusual record heat this spring and the water is getting to hotter than I expected(heater off). I am considering selling the 140k heater and buying the heat/cool 120k btu. My question is given my location, is the 120k btu enough heater for early spring/fall? Thank you.
Reply
Brad, This unit will not heat as quickly as the 140k but this is the largest unit that Hayward has that offers the cooling option.

what is the coefficient of performance of your largest heat pump. I need to heat 706,000 gallons of water and I need to know how much is it efficient in MIssissippi.

Hello Aashik- The Hayward Heat Pro Heat Pump 120,000 BTU Heat/Cool - HP31204T will not work for your application if you have 706,000 gallons. You would more than likely require a couple of these units: AquaCal Great Big Bopper - Commercial 500k BTU 208-230V - BB500BRDSBNA.

I have an 18,000 gallon 32x15 deep end 6ft. Live in SouthEastern NC close to Myrtle Beach, SC.
Will this unit effectively heat and cool my pool...? Not just a little to take the edge off but effective temperature swings that are drastically noticeable when working...? I believe this is the biggest unit of this type Haywood manufactures, therefore - if this unit will not work as designed because my pool is to big or because of the climate in which I reside what unit do you recommend...?

Hi, Michael. This Hayward HP31204T model will only take the chill out of the water. Other models like the Raypak - R8450TI-E-HC, Pentair - UltraTemp 120 H/C or UltraTemp 140 H/C will heat your pool more effectively.

I bought the Hayward heat pump last season and haven’t installed it yet. I’m thinking of updating my de filter this year. Is there a filter that makes connecting the units easier? Should the the connections on the units line up? Or should one unit be higher or lower? My husband is trying to decide before pouring the cement pad.
Reply
The inlet and outlets on this unit are lined up evenly. They can use any filter with this system because this is plumbed in after the filter.
Reply
Any filter will work with this unit as long as it i sized correctly for the plumbing and pool size. The closer you can get your plumbing to a straight run the better.
