Is there a feedback mechanism that tells the unit the chlorine balance in the pool? Is this a way for me to automate addition of clorine to keep it always at the correct level? Or, just another place to put the tab aside from the the drain basket?

There is a dial on this unit which has a setting from 1-10 If you set the dial on 1 it will be letting the least amount of chlorine to the pool and if you have it set at 10 this would send the most amount of chlorine to the pool. So you can automate the feed of chlorine to the pool but you will still need to manually test your water. We do not recommend placing tablets in the skimmer basket because this high concentration of chlorine goes directly back to your pump and can cause corrosion to your pool equipment. If you do not go with the automatic chlorinator we would recommend at least going with one of our floating chlorinators so you do not damage your equipment you may view our floating chlorinators here http://www.inyopools.com/chlorinators_floating.aspx

How do I determine if the CL100 is the proper size chlorinator for my pool?
Reply
The Hayward CL100 or CL110 chlorinator will provide enough chlorine for up to 18,000 gallons of water. If the volume of your pool is greater than this, you would need the CL200 or CL220 model which is for pools up to 40,000 gallons. For pools above 40,000 gallons, you would use multiple chlorinators. For example, if you have 60,000 gallons then you would use two CL200 or CL220 chlorinators.

What is the difference between an inline and offline chlorinator?
Reply
An inline chlorinator would be plumbed directly inline with the plumbing. For an existing pool, this would mean a section of pipe would need to be cut out to install the chlorinator. An offline chlorinator attaches to existing plumbing by chlorinator tubing (holes would be drilled into existing pipe to attach the tubing.)

Can this replace model 300-29X

Hi Pete, this chlorinator is considerably smaller than the 300-29X chlorinator. I would suggest replacing your current 300-29X chlorinator with another 300-29X chlorinator.

I'm not getting chlorine in my pool due to the 3" Chlorine tablets aren't dissolving. It was working fine until the other day.. Please advise of possible troubleshooting checks to determine and fix the problem. I have the CL100 or 110. Not sure which one exactly.

Mark, If there is water inside of the chlorinator but you are not getting a chlorine reading, there may be blockage inside of the unit. You can try flushing the blockage with warm water. Please do so in a well ventilated area to avoid inhaling chlorine gas.

where do the inlet and outlet hoses attach to the filter
Reply
Hi Irwin, The inlet and outlet hoses do not attach to the filter, it's attached to the pvc line. Please reference the Hayward Automatic Chlorine Feeder Manual for installation instructions.

When do you recommend to use inline system and when offline system.
Reply
Hi Gleb, it really comes down to the question of whether or not you have room to place the chlorinator in-line with the rest of your equipment. In-line chlorinators are connected directly after the filter (or heater, if you have one) and should be the last piece of equipment before the water is returned back to the pool..

I have a Hayward SP2607X10 Super Pump 1-HP Max-Rated Single-Speed Pool Pump. The specs say with 50 feet of head (approximately the distance to farthest pool "jet") it's pushing out 40 GPM. Is the CL 110 sized correctly or do I need to go up to a CL 220?

I would recommend the CL220 or the CL200 depending on if you want the inline or offline version.

Yes, you could use it for that purpose.

Is the check valve the outlet on the CL110? If so that goes between the filter and the return line back to the pool, correct?

Hello, Your CL110 is just the chlorinator there is no check valve attached, just a dial on the chlorinator, these check valves are located here.

if I have a 2hp pump and use an off line chlorinator, why can I not use the CL110 and control the amount of water entering the chlorinator to a low level.
Reply
Hi, Bob. If you can reduce the flow rate to 30-50 GPM going into the chlorinator you can use the CL110 Chlorinator.

I have n 18x36 fiberglass pool that is 21,000gals. according to manufacture I have to keep chlorine at less than 1.0. if it get higher then I get a brown ring at the top edge of the pool. in order to remove I have to take floater out then when chlorine level drops put in 11/2 gal of Muratic acid to clear pool. will the Haywood CL110 put in low levels of chlorine to solve my issues ?

You may need to have a full chemistry test done to the pool water but yes one of the features of the CL110 is that a dial control valve lets you control and adjust the rate of feed.

Hi Matthew, as long as you have adequate flow through your system you can use this or any residential offline chlorinator.

what is the difference between an offline and inline chemical feeder
Reply
Hello Kathleen. An inline chlorine feeder is installed directly into the pool circulation plumbing. An offline chlorine feeder is connected to the pool circulation plumbing through a bypass line (inlet water supply, outlet chlorinated water). Attached please find a brief tutorial How To Decide Whether You Need An In-line or Off-line Chlorinator Please reference the diagrams, Steps 4 & 5, for the installation difference.
