We have this filter. We are considering switching from chlorine to salt water pool. Will this shorten the life of the pool filter? How many years of service can we expect out of this filter? Thank you.

Good afternoon Roy. A salt system will still be a chlorine pool, it just makes it now instead of you adding it to the water. The tank will be fine and not affected any more by the addition of the salt system. The balance of all chemicals is what extends or shortens the life of your equipment. The tank should last 5-10 years, depending on the environment. The hotter or colder the weather, the harder it is on the tank material.

Could you be so kind as to suggest whether a HAYWARD S310 TOP MOUNT FILTER would be suitable for a :-
13000-15000 galls water
2" plumbing
& would it maintain enough pressure for the pop-up cleaners
Thanks
Reply
Hello John - The S310T2 would be suitable for your pool. The pop-up heads are dependent upon the HP of the pump. The S310T2 will have no effect on the pop-up heads.

My in-ground pool holds approximately 18,000 gallons of water. What size sand filter do I need for this size pool?
Reply
There are multiple different ways that you can go with this size pool. You need to be sure that the pump model that you have has a compatible gallons per minute rating to the filter. Generally speaking without knowing the pump model or system specifications to confirm, you may want to look to use a sand filter that is approximately 3 to 3.5 sq. ft. Please review all system specifications with us or a licensed contactor to confirm that all elements of the system are compatible.

I know I need 500lbs But what kind? There is the sand alternative Zeobest . Silica Sand #20 high rate what if it just says #20 grade 50 lbs it doesn't say high grade
Reply
Hello Patricia, Yes 500 lbs of Silica filter sand. The superior alternative to sand - for better filtration & water quality! Start using Zeobest instead of sand in your sand filter. Using 100% natural minerals, Zeobest provides excellent water clarity, purity, and quality. Zeobest has nearly 9800 times more square footage than sand, enabling it to filter small particles down to 3 microns for exceptional water clarity - that's 10 times smaller than sand! This amazing filtering media also removes the ammonia produced from dead organic material in the water, reducing eye irritation and odor. Plus, it cuts down on chemical demand, saving you money on chemicals. Zeobest is easier to use than sand. You will only need one pound of Zeobest for every two pounds of sand your filter requires - half the effort! Since Zeobest has a greater capacity for particulates than sand, backwashing will be much less frequent.

I have the following:
36,000 gallon in ground pool
1-HP Hayward pump
S310T (500 pound) Sand filter
Seems like a lot more filter than needed AND thinking about a Variable speed pump..... am I going to have filtering issues with reducing the GPM?
Reply
Hi Kurt, You will not have a filtering issue when the rpm's are reduced.

I'm looking at the s310t2 pro series sand filter. I have a 22,000 gallon pool. My pump is a 3/4 horse. It seems to be efficient enough for the cartridge filter I currently have. Is the 3/4 horse pump adequate for this sand filter model?

Hi, A 3/4 hp pump is sufficed for the S310T2 filter.

I have a S310T Hayward sand filter that is about 10 years old. is the S310T2 the replacement model?
Also the only reason I am replacing it is because the male fitting threads are wore out at the drain. are there any parts that can be purchased to plug the drain inside of the spout like a self tapping plug?
Finally, does the model mentioned above come with the top rotating valve or is that sold separately? my valve # is SP071621

Greg, The S310T2 will replace your older filter. The filter comes with a 2" valve.

I have a Hayward S310T2 with a cracked vari-flo valve. The model of the vari-flo valve is SP071620TFV. Will a SP071621 replacement valve fit my S310T2? Thank you.

Yes, that is the replacement valve with 2" ports for that filter.

I want to install new S310T2 Top mount sand filter. The current motor size is 3HP. Is that to big?

That filter can handle 98 gallons per minute, so it will depend on what the flow rate of your current pump. I will need to know the model of your pump, not the motor, and the distance from your pump to the main drain to calculate the flow rate.

I need to replace my filter and I'm thinking about getting the Hayward S310T. I want to make sure my current pump matches up well with my new filter. I have a 2HP Hayward Super Pump with a flow rate at 40' of head of 98 GPM. The pool has about 27,000 gallons of water. I realize the filter is probably bigger than what I need, but I feel I need to go big to match up with the pump. Will the Hayward S310T work well with my pump?
Thanks!

Hello Jay- The filter I would recommend going with is the if you have anything less than 40 feet of head Sand Filter with Top Mount Valve 36" Tank - S360T2. If you have 40ft of head or more you could go with the S310T2. If you decide to go with the S310t2, I would recommend the Clearance - Sand Filter with Top Mount Valve 30 Inch Tank - 8-S310T2.

What size filter is recommended for 40000 gallon pool with 2 inch fittings?
Reply
The size of filter is going to depend on the flow rate that your filter is able to handle. What is your pump model and what is the distance from your pump to your skimmers to calculate the flow rate to properly size your filter.

I have a 38k gal, 9ft deep inground pool with a Hayward SP2610X15 pump that is about 15 feet away from main drain and thinking of changing old cartridge style filter for Hayward S310T2 sand filter. Would this be a good combo?

Hi Ryan, For the pool you have explained the S310T2 would pair quite nicely with your SP2610X15 pump.

how much sand for 27" millenium filter 1.5 hayward filter
Reply
Hi, Gary. They're a few different manufacturer that has a Millenium filter that requires anywhere from 200 to 350 pounds of sand.

Can I just purchase the filter body without the multiport valve? I need two of them.
Thanks.

Yes, you can. It would be key number 6 on its parts diagram but it comes with the skirt, drain and lateral assembly. Maybe consider replacing the entire filter.

I have a Hayward S310T2. The water is constantly cloudy and I researched that the sand may have channels not allowing proper filtration. I opened the top and tried to reach my hand to the sand and see what the condition was. It did have clumps and was very dirty so it may have had channels in the sand. My question is how far the sand should fill the tank. I could barely reach the sand with my arm all the way in, about 34". It seems it should be fuller than that.

Wayne, The S310T2 holds 500 pounds of sand. The tank will be approximately 3/4 of the way full.

We have a 12,000 gallon pool (and a small 6x6 spa). What size sand filter would you recommend? We'd prefer to install an oversized one to reduce the frequency of backwashing. Our pump is the IntelliFlo variable speed.

Hi, Pacific. This filter can be used if your Intelliflo Pump does not exceed a flow rate 98 GPM.

hi - my inground pool holds about 40,000 gallons - currently using a hayward Pro-Grid DE filter SP710XR50 with a hayward super pump 2.0HP model K48M2N111
I want to replace the filter with a hayward sand filter - which one would work best
thank you

Hi, Jenette. For a 40,000 gallon pool, I would recommend a 24" or higher side mount sand filter depending on your flow rate. To calculate the flow rate of your pump, use the steps in our How To Measure Total Dynamic Head With Gauges guide.

what is the life time of this filter ??
a crak on the neck appears, is it normal ?
3 years in normal operation

The lifetime of these filters really varies. I would say on the average 10 years plus but it all depends on the maintenance and installation. If the filter operated on too high of pressure then it could fail much sooner. If a crack occurs on a seam and or within the warranty for the body then it may be under warranty.

I need to replace my sand filter. I have an in ground pool that holds approximately 30,000 gals, and a 2” pentair CFII N1 2A/343240 pump, approximately 25’ away from the pool. What filter should I purchase?

This filter turns over 47,000 in 8 hours do you want to oversize your system? S244S turns over 29,760 gallons

I purchased this last year and just noticed there is a crack in the side by where the pressure gauge screws in. The crack is about 2 inches in length. I winterize my pump every year and drain it so I am not sure what happened. Is there a warranty on this or a way to repair/patch the crack? my order number was 849833.
Unfortunately, this valve could not be patched. We do have the correct replacement for this filter attached belowhttp://www.inyopools.com/Products/02201268001093.htm

Hello, I am trying to calculate deck load. How much does the sand filter weigh with water being pumped into it? Obviously it will have 500 pounds of sand and an approximate volume of 65.4498 ft3. A gallon of water weighs about 8.3 pounds. and 1 cubic foot equals 7.48051948 gallons. So that's roughly 489.597 gallons of water at 8.3 lbs is 4,063.658 lbs + the 500 lbs of sand for a grand total of aprox. 4,564 lbs. Is this a close number of actual weight during operation?
Thanks
