Are all Hayward Tristar Pumps considered variable speed?
Reply
>No, The only variable speed TriStar pump is model#: SP322063EEV. This pump requires either the SP3220VSC - TriStar Energy Solution Control stand alone control, or the SP3220VSCAQL - TriStar Energy Solution Control for Pro Logic

Do i have to purchase anything else to have this pump up and running?

Hi. This pump is complete, you will just need the connect the water connections and the wiring. Additional accessories may required depending on the installation specification or application.

I am looking for some advice. I built a backyard stream that is about 80 feet long. I am looking for max water flow to get the water from the top of the stream down to the holding tank. The pump I currently have Hayward Powerflo Matrix isn't doing a very good job. The water does come down but very slowly and you can hardly tell it's moving. Would this pump be a good option for me?

Hi. This pump may be too big, please use Inyo's How Do I Calculate Feet of Head for My Pool? to calculate the Total Dynamic Head (TDH). Once you get the TDH, use the TriStar Performance Curve to determine the flow rate.

Can I buy just the housing for the SP3220EE? Mine leaks at the top plumbing connection, the body is cracked but otherwise the pump works well.

Hi, Curt. The TriStar Strainer Housing With Plugs - SPX3200A along with all other parts are listed Hayward TriStar Parts Diagram page.

Odd to read this as mine has the same issue, no reason why the housing is leaking? I have had this pump for about 2 yrs. I have never messed with any part of the pump discharge and just started leaking.

My sp3220ee stopped pumping. Motor works fine but no pressure. Strainer basket housing immediately gets approx 1 - 2 inches of air under the clear lid upon start up. Check valve works and no air leaks in intake pipe. Water just “churns”. No pressure. I assume I need a seal kit, but which seals to replace? I have a few of these pumps and need to replace the motor on another. Which replacement motor and what will it cost? Thank you.

Hi Chris, Could you take a picture of the motor label(s) which show amps, volts, hp, etc.. as well as a wide shot showing the complete pump(s). Click the reply link and there is a button to upload your photos. Once we receive the photos then we will make the appropriate suggestions, thanks so much!
