What is the voltage on this unit? How long is the manufactures warranty? If the system requires repairs during warranty, what do I do?
Reply
This pump runs on 115V power. This unit comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. If the pump needed repair, you would call Hayward directly and they would put you in touch with a warranty service station in your area.

Does this pump come with an on/off switch? What is the amp draw of the motor?
Reply
This motor does not come with an on/off switch. We recommend the following timer for 1hp models: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02400001004822.htm. For 1.5hp models, we recommend this timer: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02200022032590.htm. Amp draw for the 1hp motor is 13.8 amps, and 15 amps for the 1.5hp motor.

How many hours per day should I run my pump?
Reply
There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

I am replacing an Aqua Flo 1 1/2 HP above ground pool pump rated at 15.0 amps with an Hayward SP1580x15 1 1/2 HP at 12.0 amps. Will I notice a difference? Will the Hayward run quieter?
Reply
The Hayward will save you money on your operational costs by roughly 25% as it will be drawing 12 amps vs. 15 amps on the Aqua Flo pump. The Hayward pump should operate a slightly quieter than the Aqua Flo pump.

Good Morning. I’m ready to purchase the Power-Flo LX 1 1/2 HP, 115V, 1 Spd. Pump - SP1580X15 – or the Pure Pro XL (will discuss this with you after). Regardless which replacement pump I purchase, the outlet on both housings are facing up (12-o’clock). However, my current set up has the outlet coming off the side (90 degrees). Can I turn the housings on either of these new pumps so that the outlet is coming off the side? Thank you, Owen Matthews

During a recent hard freeze the strainer basket "lip" that secures the lid broke, due to my being too lazy to run pump at night! The pump is new and working. Can this be repaired or just the housing be replaced?

There is not a suggested fix, you will require replacing the Power-Flo Strainer Housing w/ Basket (spx1500cap)

Hi, John. This pump is too large for a 14 or 16 inch sand filter. An 18" or higher would be sufficient.

I have a 16 x 32 pool. The pump and filter set up is positioned about 1-1.5' lower than the top of pool. Can I use a pump like this one, or am I better off with an in ground pump. The pump I was using was actually an above ground, which seemed to work fine. Thanks!
Reply
Hi Angela, Since your pump is below the water level of your pool then you should be able to use an above ground pool pump. The inground pumps are self priming which means that they can pull water up to them since inground pools normally have the equipment above the water level. In your situation a gravity fed pump like this one should work fine.
