I have a Hayward NorthStar that I am looking to replace. The only one's I see all have a threaded union connection. Do you still carry the one with the Quad lock?

Unfortunately Hayward discontinued the Quad Lock design on the NorthStar pump models in 2007. The housing on the newer pumps is a threaded design and re-plumbing would be necessary.

I need to replace the motor on a Hayward Northstar Pump SP4015X20NS. Could you recommend the correct 2HP motor?

I have a Northstar Hayward SP4015X20NS pump and motor. The pump is leaking water from the back and underneath the pump. I tried to find a new one but all sites say it is obsolete. What is a direct replacement I can use? PS My motor is fine, can I just buy the pump>

Hi Jim, There is not a direct replace for the Northstar Pool Pump 2 HP that will match up with the plumbing but performance wise the Hayward TriStar 1-1/2 HP, Energy Efficient, Full Rated Pump will be a suitable replacement. You will have to re-plumb this pump into your set up. You can purchase replacement parts, there is a Northstar 1998-2007 and a Northstar 2008-Current version.

What replaces the SP4015X20NS Hayward Northstar pump since this is no longer available?

Hello, Jacky, The closest replacement for your SP4015x20ns Northstar Pool Pump 2 HP would be the SP3215X20 Hayward TriStar 2 HP, Max Rated Pump or SP3215EE Hayward TriStar 1-1/2 HP, Energy Efficient, Full Rated Pump. You will have to do some replumbing but they will be the closest in performance to the Northstar.

Hello! The motor on my Northstar SP4015X20NS died and I would like to replace just the motor with either a 2-speed or variable speed motor. Is there a variable speed motor that will work or do you only recommend the Hayward SPX1615Z2MNS 2-speed, 2HP unrated motor you have listed on the parts page. Thanks!

Part number ECM27CU is a great variable speed motor that will fit your Northstar. Is your Northstar before 2007 or after 2007 model, that is going to matter for the shaft seal because the two difference Northstars have two difference shaft seals. You will want to replace the shaft seal when you do the motor installation.

is there a tool to take off the lid on the SP4014x20ns. The lid is extremely hard to get off with out using a mallet

There is no listed tool for this model pump. I would advise that once you get the lid removed to use magic lube on the o ring and lid seal to make future removal easier.

I currently have the Northstar SP4015X20NS 2HP. I see the other comments for comparable current Hayward models, what would be the comparable Pentair model for my application? I just replaced my Hayward sand filter last year to a pentair CCP420 filter? Thanks

We would recommend the Sta-Rite Max-E-Pro 2 HP Up Rate Standard - P6RA6G-207L.

This comes factory set at 230V. Do I need to switch the wires and set it at 115V? What voltage do these typically run at?
Reply
This model is obsolete and no longer available. It can be switched to 115V if needed. However, the majority of inground pool pumps run on 230v. We recommend testing the voltage before switching the voltage setting of the pump.

Hello Elio. The published Performance Data for the Hayward NorthStar model SP4015X20NS indicates a flow rate of 118 gallons per minute (GPM) at 50 Feet of Head. The Hayward TriStar Single Speed 1.0 HP (1.85 THP) Full Rate Energy Efficient Pool Pump model W3SP3210EE is rated 105 GPM at 50 Feet of Head. Hayward TriStar 1 HP, Energy Efficient, Full Rated Pump The Hayward TriStar 1.85 HP Variable Speed Pool Pump model W3SP3202VSP is rated 105 GPM at 50 Feet of Head, high speed. Either of these pumps would be an excellent replacement for the Hayward NorthStar.
