When should I change the sand in my filter?

You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

I have a Hayward S-200 sand filter with Hayward side mount valve. Would this filter be a good replacement filter? I plan on reusing the Haywood side valve because it is just a couple of years old. Will it mate up with this tank?

Hi Rick, This Triton II TR50 Sand Filter (140249) will be a good replacement, however the valve will not work with this filter. You will have to use a valve that is specifically for this filter.

Hi, Doug. I was unable to locate a complete sand filter that has an 8" centerline. The Triton II filter has a 7-1/2" centerline. You will have to purchase a new filter and slide valve.

I currently have a Pentair 261177 1 Threaded Multiport 1-1/2 & 2 in. D.E. and Pool Sand Filter, that I use for my D.E. Filter. I am replacing the D.E. Filter with the Triton II TR50 Filter Side Mount 21 Inch Tank - 140249. Will my currenet multiport 261177 be compatible with the new TR50 side mount?

I have 20,000 gallon rectangular pool, 2hp Pentair pump with a Jacuzzi tri-clops TC-300 filter. What filter would you recommend to replace it? I'm kind of tired of $300 filters every2-3 years.

Hello, We would recommend part number 140243 for your size pool. You have a large pool with a large pool pump, so you would need a large filter.

Hi Daniel, We do carry the Triton TR60 which you can view here Triton TR60 Sand Filter your current FNS48 Filter has a flow rating of 96 gallons per minute so the TR100 Sand Filter would be more comparable to your current filter as the flow rating on the TR100 Sand Filter is 98 GPM compared to 63 GPM on the TR60. Either filter will also require the purchase of this 2" Triton TR Sand Filter Backwash Valve. We hope this helps!
