I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?

Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.

Pumps my 1-1/2hp pool pump (Centurion CF11 N1 1A) went out when I fired it up (12 years old) Looking at maybe upgrading to energy efficient pump... considering Pentair or maybe Sta-Rite. Your Pentair WFE-26 (547.99) and WFE-6 (515.99) seem very similar but they are described as "up-rate" (26) and "full-rate" (6). What is difference and do you think these are similar to my current pump. (24700 gal pool; 230/115 pump we are wired for 230)Other or better suggestions? Last year I picked up a used sa

Based on your pool size you need a Gallon per minute rating (GPM) of 52 GPM's to turn your pool over in an 8 hour time period, I show that your current Challenger pump outputs roughly 60 GPM's and we show that the part # you provided for your current pump is for a 1 HP. The sand filter you have has a GPM rating or 62 GPM's where the large Sta Rite filter has a GPM rating of 110 GPM's. The uprated WFE-26 pump outputs a GPM of 80 and the Full Rate WFE-6 pump has a GPM of 100. With all of this being said I would suggest going with the WFE-26 if you are going to stay with your current set up and swap out to the Sta Rite filter as the current sand filter can only handle 62 GPM's if you do intend on adding water features or see the need for the increased GPM's in the near future then I would go with the WFE-6 and swapping out to the S8M150. Lastly note that the amp draw is less on the WFE-26 so your operational cost would be roughly 20% less then that of the WFE-6. You may view or p

I am replacing the 1-1/2 h.p. motor on my Pentair pool pump which crosses over to an A.O. Smith B2841 or B2841V1 motor i beleive.
What is the tune up kit p/n that i will need for the following pump?
Whisperflo pump p/n: 011518
A tune up kit includes the shaft seal assembly, and a few Orings/seals, is this correct ?
Thank You !
Scott

The gokit32 would be your seal kit if you have a chlorine pool and gokit32salt if you have a salt pool. They do come with the shaft seals, other o rings and gaskets.

I want to upgrade my pool pump from sta-rite MPRA6D to pentair wfe-26. I don't know is it good idea and my Hayward Sand Filter S244T with SP0714T1 can handle high GPM. All PVC pipes are 2 inch. I need suggestions.

Hi, Jason. Using the WF-26 pump isn't a good idea with an S244T filter. Before replacing the pump, try to calculate the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool. This will allow you to properly size a pool pump.

I have old this WFE-26 pump right now and need to replace it.
I am told that we should not install a single speed motor pump in California any longer. What would be equivalent variable speed models to consider? I plan to install it myself so I kind like a "drop-in" idea - without much re-pipe or space reconfiguration..
Thanks. -Gary

Hi Gary, Yes if you are in California then you do have to go with a variable speed. I would suggest just replacing your motor with this 1.65 HP Variable Speed Replacement Motor and this Whisperflo Tune Up Kit this would mean no re-plumbing at all. The variable-speed motor will save you a ton on your operational cost.

Thanks Patrick for your response. This motor's frame is 48Y and my WFE-26 is 56Y. Also I see this one has 4 screws where mine has 6 screws to attach to the pump. Would you double check that this motor will fit into the WFE-26 pump? Thanks again -Gary

Hi Gary, Yes the 48Y motor works as a replacement for the 56Y. The 56Y has a slightly larger barrel diameter than the 48Y however the 48Y comes with a rubber spacer which ensures there is no gap between the bottom of your motor and your motor cradle. We sell a ton of the 48Y variable speed motors which are being used to replace 56Y motors.

I have the Pentair WFE-26 / 011518 motor and pump. Its a single speed and the motor is getting louder and louder. Was looking to get a variable speed motor that will fit to the pump. I looked at replacing the motor and pump but most new set up[s don't measure the same as mine and I really don't want to replace pump if I don't have to because id rather not re-plum the pump? Can you recommend a pump and do you recommend replacing motor only?

Hello Jim. The Century Motors V-Green 1.65 HP Variable Speed Motor model ECM16SQU would be a compatible variable speed motor for the Pentair Whisperflo model WFE-26. It is advisable to replace the motor shaft seal, Seal plate gasket, and diffuser O-ring at the same time. These parts are contained in the tune up kit, GOKIT32. Unless your current pump is installed with unions replumbing will be necessary if you transition to a Whisperflo Dual Speed model WFDS-4 in order to gain a more energy-efficient pump. Replumbing will be necessary if you transition to any new variable speed pump, even Pentair - the inlet and discharge on all VS models are at different heights and spacing.
