Do the WFE-3 and WFE-24 have the same pump curve?

The WFE-24 and WFE-3 have the exact same pump curve. You may read more about full rate and up rate pumps here >http://www.inyopools.com/poolanswers_pumps.aspx#full_rated_up_rated_max_rated and you may view or purchase either of these pumps here >http://www.inyopools.com/pumps_pentair.aspx

I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?
 Reply

Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.

How long can we expect the motor to last? Installed 10/2013 making very loud noises (Not whispering) Poolman says to replace it!
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/13/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Normally a pool motor lasts in the 7-10 year range, if it is running very loud then this means the bearings are going bad and it would be a good idea to replace the motor.

I have an existing WF-23. Should I replace it with the same unit or should I use the WFE-3? Are all of the connections compatible?
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/25/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

By going to the WF-3 you would be getting a full rate model which is technicaly a total horse power of just under 1. Connections are the same but you need to make sure that the filter will be compatible via flow rate to handle the extra water pressure.

Depending on the head resistance, that number will vary. But at minimal head, the max would be 98GPM .

Will I need to purchase O-rings and seals in addition to the pump or does that all come with it?
 Reply

Hello Rob, Pentair Whisperflo Energy Effic 3/4 HP Full Rate Pump PART#011512 is the complete unit. You will not need any additional seals or gaskets. Just the PVC you would purchase from a hardware store. If you wanted to add unions you would purchase part number 11201-0154.

WHATSIZE PUMP IS RECOMMENDED FOR 25,000 GALLEN IN GROUD POOL
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/18/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

In most applications I would say a 1 HP or a 1.5 HP pump would be suited for a 25,000 gallon pool. However there are quite a few factors that come into play like your filter size, pump size and feet of head. We put together a good video here on How to Size a Pool Pump which you may find helpful. I personally like the PureLine Pure Water 1.5 HP Pump.

We are hearing a buzzing sound when we turn on the power, but there is no suction. We have a Whisperflo 3/4 purchased 10/2009. (Linda Laski) Serial number 032625309203. Does that sound like a pump problem?

Good morning Dave, Sounds like the start capacitor is bad. Is there a hump on top of the motor? If so, that is where the capacitor is located and it is an easy replacement. If not then it is located in the back of motor.

Is this a direct replacement for my Hydropump 590 H 3/4 HP or is the Superflow pump the correct one?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/26/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi. I was not able to find any performance data on the Hydropump 590 model to confirm if either the Whipserflo or the Superflo Pump are direct replacements. In order to find out which pump will be better, follow the steps in our How To Size a Pool Pump guide.

Have a 18000 gallon pool, 3/4hp whisperflow 1 speed, average run is 42 feet and filter is a Pentair Clean and Clear 320 (3 filters inside, says will handle 50gpm) plumbing 1 1/2 inch piping. 8 year old system, the pool now pump shuts down when hot. I have a Rheem 6310 heat pump and it starts and shuts down with low flow code. System seems to be pumping at about 12gpm. I am wondering since I have to replace the pump if I should go with a bigger flow pump. Thanks for any help.

A  Answered on 9/15/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Rick. Based on the info provided, you should be getting more than 12gpm. The Rheem 6310 heat pump requires a min flow rate of 15-60 gpm. You can go with a bigger pump as long as it does not exceed the flow rate of your pieces of equipment.

I have a <2 yr old (purchased from Inyo, March 2017) Pentair Whisperflo 2 spd 3/4 HP Pump. It is making very loud noise when running. I have turned it off out of fear that it will self-destruct catastrophically. I am surprised that it is failing this soon. What do you recommend?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/4/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Kevin G.

Hello, that sound you are hearing is the bearings of your motor going bad. This can be caused by water getting into the motor or the pump running dry. To fix this issue, your best option will be to replace the motor and seals. If you could please send me a photo of your motor label, I can recommend the correct motor for you.

My Pool pump (WFE-3 Model 011512, 0.75 HP.) seems to be sucking air. I want to purchase the Seal Kit, but am not sure on the exact model year of my pump. The label on the pump states SN: 05 01 -8986 AP (see pic). Which model year is this and which Seal Kit should I purchase?
