What are the main differences between the 011013 4X160 Intelliflo and the 011012 IntelliFlo pump?
Reply
The 011012 IntelliFlo pump has 16 speeds and has a computer controller on the top of the motor. This controller will allow you to completely program and control the pump directly from this controller mounted on the motor. The 011013 is a 4 speed pump and does not have a controller on the pump motor so you would need an outside controller to turn the pump on and off and switch between the speeds where the 011012 does not require the seperate controller. The 011012 can also be controlled through the Pentair IntelliTouch system. You may view the intelliflo pumps here

How does this pump connect to a salt-water system? From what I understand, the pump timer must also turn on power to the salt cell. Does the Pentair pump have an output for this without having to use their separate controller system?

The pump and salt chlorine generator operate completely independently from each other. So you would program the pump directly from the controller mounted on the pump motor, by doing this you can program the time of day you would like for the pump to come on as well as many other settings. The salt chlorine generator also has a controller on its power supply where you can program the output of chlorine. The Salt Chlorine generator has a flow switch which will only allow it to operate when the pump is turned on and sending water through the cell. So when the pump turns on, the water which is being sent through the salt cell will activate the flow switch which will tell the Salt Chlorine generator to start generating chlorine.

We get a lot of voltage variations (high sometimes but mostly brownouts). What is the safe operating range on this pump and will it automatically shut off in a low or high voltage situation?
Reply
The pump operates at 230V single phase. At roughly 210V the pump will automatically shut off.

My pump is 4 years old and is making a whining / buzzing sound. Wht should I do?

Hi Jay, The noise that you're hearing is an indicator that the bearings is failing. You can either replace the VFD Motor 350105S or the bearings. We do not have the bearing specs, you will have to contact Pentair at 800.831.7133 or take the motor apart to get the bearing size.

For ease of installation, can I use my existing Pentair WhisperFlo volute casing with the motor side of this VF pump p/n 011012? This would make it easer to install and not have to re-plumb.

Hi Lee, Yes this Pentair Volute is Used for both the Whisperflo and IntelliFlo based on the HP of your current pump you may need to swap out a few of the internal components like the impeller as the Intelliflo uses larger impeller than most Whisperflo models.

Great to know. Can you recommend p/n for a seal kit?
