Is there a feedback mechanism that tells the unit the chlorine balance in the pool? Is this a way for me to automate addition of clorine to keep it always at the correct level? Or, just another place to put the tab aside from the the drain basket?

There is a dial on this unit which has a setting from 1-10 If you set the dial on 1 it will be letting the least amount of chlorine to the pool and if you have it set at 10 this would send the most amount of chlorine to the pool. So you can automate the feed of chlorine to the pool but you will still need to manually test your water. We do not recommend placing tablets in the skimmer basket because this high concentration of chlorine goes directly back to your pump and can cause corrosion to your pool equipment. If you do not go with the automatic chlorinator we would recommend at least going with one of our floating chlorinators so you do not damage your equipment you may view our floating chlorinators here http://www.inyopools.com/chlorinators_floating.aspx

What is the difference between an inline and offline chlorinator?
Reply
An inline chlorinator would be plumbed directly inline with the plumbing. For an existing pool, this would mean a section of pipe would need to be cut out to install the chlorinator. An offline chlorinator attaches to existing plumbing by chlorinator tubing (holes would be drilled into existing pipe to attach the tubing.)

The description for the Rainbow HC-3315 says that it is best for commercial pools. Does that mean that it would be too much Chlorine or a problem for a residential pool?

You may have to keep the dial turned down to the lowest setting. We would recommend the Rainbow 320 Inline Chlorinator for residential pools of your size.

I have a 3000 gallon spa using a Hayward chorine feeder. I'm always having problems with the top cover leaking. I'm looking for something is more durable and easier to work with. is it easy to hook up? Thank you

Hi Steven, I think this chlorinator may be overkill for a 3,000 gallon spa as it is intended for pools up to 96,000 gallons. I really like the Custom Molded Products Chlorinators and they are easy to hook up.

Will using more trichlor tablets increase the stabilizer levels. How much stabilizer is in each 3 inch tablet? Is it possible to purchase trichlor tablets with less stabilizer in each tablet? Can stabilizer be chemically lowered?
Reply
Hi Mike, Using Tricglor will definitely increase the stabilizer level overtime, it does not state the level of stabilizer that is in the tablets. There is a product by Bio-Active called CYA Reducer that recently hit the market that will reduce the stabilizer level in pools if it becomes an issue.

I use a product called Accu-Tab. It's a 3" tablet. Would that be the same as trichlor?
Reply
Hi, Karen. The Accu-Tab are made with calcium hypochlorite which is different from trichlor. You can not use trichlor tab in the same chlorinator as the cal hypo tabs.

We have a 50,000 gallon commercial pool and currently have a Pentair model 300-29X chlorine feeder which is causing our to be cloudy because it uses a stabilizer tablet. What sanitation system would work better the PPG model 3012 or the Pentair HC 3315 to have better water quality? thank you
Reply
Hello Dennis, For that type 300-29x chlorinator you would still get cloudy water with both units PPG model 3012 and Pentair HC 3315 with any kind of stabilized tablets, it does sound like you might have a build up of stabilizer in your lines causing cloudy water. I would recommend checking/cleaning your feed lines.

I have a 24000 gallon liner in-ground pool with an old biolab bromine feeder that needs to be replaced. It is an offline feeder. What feeder would you recommend for our residential pool?

Hi Joel, I would suggest the HC-3330 Feeder for a 24,000 gallon pool using bromine.

I take care of an 18,000 gallon neighborhood pool. What can I use to chlorinate the pool with 1" CALCIUM HYPOCHLORITE tablets, so I don't have to keep fighting the CYA levels with trichlor tabs?
Reply
Hello, Instead of using tablets (which has high levels of stabilizer) you can try using bags of shock or liquid chlorine instead.
