24ft round pool - is this correct heat pump? what is needed to install and use this unit?
I have 110 electric and no natural gas near the pool.

Hi Marc, Yes this would be the correct heat pump for a 24' round pool and it is 230V. The Raypak Heat Pump installation Guide will give you all the items needed to install.

I have an above ground pool, 40,000 gal pool. Would this be the correct heater for my pool? So, I would need to get an electrician to install a 230v for my pool since I only have a 110v as well? I am looking for a pool heater that uses the air to generate heat like the refrigerator uses but would that work for a 40,000 gal pool? Also I can not find one on your site.
Reply
Jessica, What are the dimensions of the pool? If the pool is 40,000 gallons, you will need a 130 - 140k btu heat pump.

In Montreal.Ingtojnd pool with about 70 000 litres of water. Is the R4350ti model right for me?
Reply
Paul, The RayPak Pool Heat Pump 85,000 BTUs (R4350TI) will be ok, but the larger the unit the faster it will heat the pool.

I have a pool that has about 16,000 gallons in South Florida. Will the RayPak 85k BTU handle this? Also, how loud is the heat pump when operating?
Reply
Hi John, The RayPak Compact Series Pool Heat Pump 85,000 BTUs can handle your 16,000 gallon pool. Raypak does not list the db of the units on the Technical Data Sheet.

Yes I bought a raypak 85.000 BTU heater and I need to know breaker size and wire size
Reply
Joey, the minimum breaker size for the R4350TI is 34 with a max of 50. As for the wiring size, you would have to call Raypak directly for that information at (805) 278-5300. Please keep in mind this unit must be installed by a qualified installer or the warranty will be voided.

is this heat pump suitable for a salt waterpool? Is a 120V electric outlet ok?
Reply
Hi Diane, This unit does have a titanium heat exchanger making it suitable for saltwater pools. This unit will also need a dedicated 50 max amp 208-230 volt single phases breaker to operate it.

WHAT SIZE RAYPAK POOL HEAT PUMP I WOULD NEEDD FOR A 10000-12000 GAL. POOL?
Reply
Hi Roweland, Heaters are sized based on the pool's surface area, but for a pool that size this 85,000 BTU unit will be sufficient.
Reply
Am I correct in thinking this is a electic Pool pump heater and connects to a 220 volt line?
Reply
Hi Jim, This is a heat pump which is used to heat your pool water, it will not replace your existing pool circulation pump. This unit will require a dedicated 40-50 amp 230 volt breaker.

We have a 13,000 gallon in ground salt water pool. We live in the Phoenix area. Will this unit be sufficient?
Reply
This size heat pump will be sufficient to heat your pool. Keep in mind that the larger the heat pump, the faster it heats your pool and the less it needs to run. That translates into better energy savings in the long run.

Live in South Carolina with an 8500 gallon prefab pool. What would be the most efficient unit to heat. The coldest the water got this winter was 55 degrees
Reply
For an 8500 gallon pool and your location the 85,000 BTU model would be an efficient model for your set up.

We have a 20,000 gallon inground salt water pool - in Connecticut. Our heat pump appears to be broken and is pretty old. We want to heat the water but not necessarily extend the season drastically. What size heat exchanger would you think best for the job ?
Reply
Hi, I would recommend a heat pump that is at least 133,000 BTU. We have units that go up to 140,000 BTU if you prefer.

We are putting in a new fiberglass pool in NJ. . 32' x 14' 11,500 gals. What size heat pump would I need?
Reply
Hello Jim, this would depend on what months you would like to swim and desired temperature you would like the pool to stay at. So if desired degree level was 80 degrees in April-November that would be achieved with this unit. I would highly recommend a solar blanket to lock in heat and avoid evaporation.

I have a 11,000 gallon inground pool and live in maryland . Pool size is 34 x 14 is the RayPak heat pump 85,000 BTUs the correct unit for my pool.
Reply
Hello Lenny- Based on the information you provided, a pool in Maryland with a square footage of 476 would require a Raypak Standard 140K BTU Digital Heat Pump - 016033 to raise the pool temp. to 82 degrees from May to September. I would also still recommend a solar blanket or Cover Free with the unit.

I have an 18,000 gallon 24ā round pool- above ground. I live in NJ and am looking to raise temp of water to 80 degrees in May and September bookends. Was looking at a 125 BTU but the woman on phone says Iād need hard PVC piping installed versus the flexible hoses? Is that accurate?
Reply
Hi, Ryan. That is correct, these units are not set up to where you can use flexible hoses. It has to be hard plumb.

I received my 4450 heat pump and it came with 1 1/2" fittings to connect to my other plumbing. But all my plumbing is 2" do I need to get some 2" fittings as the manual says, should be at least equal in size to the main pool/spa circulation piping. Or do I just go from the 1 1/2" provided to 2" from the unit to the main return line? Thanks
Don

Hi, Don. You can just use an adapter to connect your 2" plumbing to the 1-1/2" pvc unions.

I have a 12500 gallon in ground pool. Will this pump be the correct size we need?
Reply
Hi, Kevin. Other factors like your geographical location, desired temperature and if a solar cover will be used are needed to determine if this unit will be sufficient for your pool.

I live in Ohio and I do have a use a solar cover. I have read that a 83k unit is good up to 22000 gallon. With the use of the solar cover, the water temp is in the low 80's in the spring and fall. We would like it to stay in the mid to upper 80's.

Hi, Kevin. This unit will be sufficient to keep your pool in the mid 80 from May - September.

I have an above ground 18x33 oval pool. 54" inches high. roughly 14,000 gallons in Iowa. I would like to heat from May 1 to Sept 30. What size would be sufficient?
Reply
Todd, I would suggest the Raypak Compact Series Heat Pump 80,000 BTU - 016631 at minimum for your 18' x 33' pool. The higher you go in BTU the faster you will get your water to temperature and would be a matter of preference if you wanted to go higher.

I have a 24 above ground round in Upstate NY. Will this be the best electric unit for the pool and can you confirm that this can be left in the elements and does not have to be in a shed.
Thank you,

Hi Mike, Yes this would be a great Heater for your application and is the one we recommend. You would be fine leaving this in the elements and would not need to be brought indoors for the winter.

We have a 30' round above ground pool. Is he 80k btu unit sufficient to give us a longer season? We have a solar cover that we use but it would be nice to extend our season.
Reply
Hi Jack, If you are looking to extend the season by a month at the beginning and end of the season then yes this 80,000 BTU heat pump would be sufficient. Based on the price difference I would go with this 119,000 BTU Raypak Heat Pump as you will get a lot more heating ability and it is currently only $120 more than the 80,000 BTU.

why is flexible pipe not suitable for a Raypak pool heat pump?
Reply
Good day,If you follow the guidelines of the install. You would be able to use the Flex PVCWater connections from the unit to the main return line can be PVC pipe or flexible pipe approved for the purpose and, in either case, should be at least equal in size to the main pool/spa circulation piping. 4. Shut Off/Diverter valves, preferably three-way valves which allows for a bypass route, on the inlet and outlet lines of the HPPH are required if: • water flow to the unit will exceed 40gpm (151lpm) for 2450-4450 models or 80gpm (303lpm) for 5450-8450 models • to protect (completely bypass) the unit from any harmful chemical treatments (i.e. Acid wash, back-to-back super chlorinators, stain treatments, etc.); or • to be able to isolate the unit for service/repair or freeze preparation and still allow pool/spa circulation to continue
