I need a multiport valve to go with a S7MD72 filter. Is the Pentair 18201-0300 the appropriate valve?

Part number 18201-0300 is the correct multiport valve for the S7MD72.

I cleaned the filter and added the DE but it all went back into the pool. Did I not put it back together correctly or what? The model # is S7MD72 and can you send me the proper instructions on this process. thanks

Hi Ruben, It is possible the the Filter Module was incorrectly installed, you can find the proper way to install the Filter Module in the Sta-Rite Modular DE Filter Manual.

Will these filters go good with my sta-rite intelli pro variable speed pump and my pentair ultratemp heat pump? I have a small pool, but I need more water flow or speed for a newly installed water feature on the same pump. I now have a sta-rite PLD 70 filter that seems restrictive to water flow. If recommended which would be best the 60 or 72 sq ft.? A last question is is there such a thing as over filtration??

Hi Don, This unit will be okay to use with your Sta-Rite IntelliPro VS Pump and UltraTemp heat pump. The PLD70 requires a flow rate of less than 55 gpm which depending on the speed that you're operating the pump you're exceeding that flow rate causing back pressure. I would recommend the S7MD72 filter, it has a flow rate of 72-108 which would allow a better water flow. There is no such thing as over filtration, the bigger the filter the better.

Can this filter be plumbed without using a backwash valve? Would take apart anytime needs cleaning. Backwashing is not nesessary and doesn't clean good.

Hi Don, System 3 Mod DE Filter unit can be installed with or without the use of a slide or multi-port valve. To clean the module you would have to remove it from the canister and with a soft flow nozzle, wash out the module. Installation instructions can be found in the Sta-Rite Modular DE Filter Manual.

can I use my current multiport (sta-rite) #18201-0200 (it doesn't use hoses, rather 2" pipe), with this model?

Hello Hector, There are currently no generic versions of these cartridges, only the original Sta-Rite brand. Average lifespan of cartridges are 6 months to a year depending on cleaning them and maintaining them.
