Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/16/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

I am trying to hook the Max-E-Therm heater to a Jandy Aqualink controler. Need to know how to wire. Do I use 3 or 4 wire connection?

Hi Bart, The Max-E-Therm Owner's Manual does not indicate a 4 wire connection so it will be the 3 wire connection.

Hello Richard, We would recommend that the Max-E-Therm Heater 400000 BTU be installed by a licensed service technician. In the event you need to utilize the 1 year manufacturer's warranty, they may require receipt information of who it was installed by. We suggest you contact a local pool part/supply company that performs installations.

We currently have a Sta-Rite 200BTU inground heater for a 14,000 gallon pool. Can we upgrade the heater to a Sta-Rite 333BTU without a lot of changes or additional time for installation? Also for the warranty to be valid, can we use a licensed heating and air company technician or do we have to go with a pool technician?

I'd need the length and the size of your gas lines. The owner's manual has a diagram on page 14 on what size gas lines you need for each size heater. Here's the link for the owner's manual.

Is there a manual available for this model ? Experiencing difficulties opening pool after winter. Water is gushing out of the inlet pipe (top one) when we try & run the pump. Is there some valve that we've forgotten to open or close that's causing this ? Both are tightly fastened. Thanks.

Hi Alan, please click here to view the Sta-Rite Max E Therm series pool heater manual and here to view the parts diagram for its water system. I would suggest inspecting any connecting unions on that line that may have a simply failed o ring on a connector that needs to be either lubricated using Magic Lube or replaced. The water system parts diagram will have that o ring listed.
