My b2844 just arrived. Thanks for the fast shipment. I figured it is a motor with an open back. The replacement will be outside and raining/moisture is a concern. What should I do to protect it from getting wet?

These motors are okay for outdoor use. As long as no water gets into the electrical or is submerged you are fine. This motor cover will aid in keeping it dry from rain as well.

Will the pool pump cover keep the base of the pump form rusting out and coming loose from the base that it is screwed into?

No, this motor cover will not prevent the underside of the motor from rusting. However is is an added layer of protection that will deflect water. This will prolong the length of time it takes to cause the deterioration of the motor bottom.

Hi Sam, This protective cover can be used with most pumps that do not have a built-in controller. It can be used with the Pentair pump but not the Jandy VS Pump.

Hi Brian. This Protective Pool Motor Cover will not work with the EcoTech EZ motor. We do not have a cover that will work with that motor.

Since the cover is made of plastic, is there any danger of the plastic melting? I just bought a new 1HP Hayward motor for my pool. I certainly want to insure I do what is best for the motor. I have always worried about it being constantly exposed to the elements since we keep our pool open year round and run the motor and filter constantly.

Hello- Under normal operation, the cover poses little risk of melting. Since the cover is made of plastic, though, it could melt if your motor overheats due to a lack of water entering the pump or a motor malfunction. The cover has round clips that attach to the body of the motor. The physical cover itself, does not have direct contact with the motor body.

I used a similar cover for my pump and the bearings went bad only after 3 years. First motor which was uncovered lasted 15 years. My pool service technician said the cover contributed to the early death of the motor. This was evidenced by blistering of paint on the top of the motor housing. Should pumps be covered or not?

Hi, John. I've never heard of a motor cover contributing to a motor failure. If the motor bearings failed, the motor cover is not the issue.

I have a 1 HP Superflo High Performance Pump. I don't want to remove the pump and store it in my shed over the winter. Will the R221066 #325 Motor Cover protect it from ice and snow since I live in Northeast Ohio?
This motor cover will assist with taking care of the motor however you still would want to drain the pump of water and keep the area clear of too much snow.

The dimensions of the pool motor cover are 13" L X 9" W X 2" D and will fit most standard Hayward single or dual-speed motors that do not have a controller mounted to them.

Hello Mary. Yes, the Pentair Protective Pool Motor Cover 3050-38 will fit your Sta-Rite Max-E-Pro pool pump. If the motor's capacitor is located on the top of the motor, a minor adjustment may be required in its positioning but functionally it will be fine.
