What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Can you direct me to the proper hi low switch for this motor?
Reply
Unfortunately the manufacturer does not offer the switch for the 2 speed 220v motors any longer. If you already have a 220 volt timer (on/off) you would need an Intermatic T106R to switch from high to low speed. If you do not have a timer currently you would need the T10604R which is a 220v on/off timer and a high/low timer.

Hello! My SPX1610Z2MNS 1.5HP 2 speed motor just died on my Hayward Northstar SP1410X152NS pump. Would this be the correct replacement? Also I have a salt water pool, what other kits would I need to replace the motor, i.e: gasket, impeller, etc.? Thank you!
Hi Eric, The motor on this page is the correct motor for your SP4010X152NS pump and we would also suggest this 1.5 HP Northstar Seal and Impeller Kit. We also put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project.

Hi there! I have a Hayward Northstar self-priming dual speed power saver pump and I believe the motor is about to bite the dust. I am looking to replace it and came across this model. The specs are just a little different from mine so I wanted to make sure this model is compatible. Pictures are attached. Thanks! Kate
