What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Is this a drop-in replacement for a 56J, SF 1.20 2HP single speed motor?
Reply
Hi Joe, The 2 Hp 2 Speed Up Rated Motor (5112-064) has a 56Y Frame motor and is a 2 speed motor. The 2 HP 56J Full Rate Threaded Round Flange Motor (B130) would be a drop-in replacement.

Will this motor replace the SPX1615X1MNS I currently have in my Hayward Northstar? The picture I attached is a replacement single speed that is currently installed. Also, if this motor will work is there a manual switch for the speed?
I've installed this, but looks like I have a lead at the impeller seal, as the old impeller has a ring worn into it where the shaft seal is supposed to seat. Can you tell me which replacement impeller I should get?

Hi, Bob. You will need the Impeller Kit - SPX4020CKIT.

So I've replaced the shaft seal and that's all perfect now, except the motor has gotten louder, so I'm thinking that the bearing on that side got destroyed from the leak. Where can I find a new set of bearings for this motor?

Hello, Unfortunately, we do not carry bearing replacements for dual speed motors. We recommend contacting the manufacturer on finding the correct ones for your motor. You can contact them at 1-800-429-9273.

Can you tell me the part number for the bearings in this motor? Maybe the dimensions? Hayward is pretty much no help on this as they want to send me to a local "pool professional".

Hi Bob, we are showing there are two bearings in this motor, one being the 6203 Bearing and the other being the 6304 Bearing. We put together a few videos on how to replace bearings which you may find helpful when you tackle this project. Hello Benny. The Hayward motor model SPX1615Z2MNS is the correct replacement for the Century motor CAT. #130 when changing from a single-speed motor to a two-speed motor. The part number you provided, IS4007-00B, indicates that this is a Hayward Northstar pump.
