I have a model p2ra5e-124L, code 1693X. will this seal plate fit?
Reply
Jim, yes the C203-193P seal plate is the correct replacement for your P2RA5E-124L. Please note that this is the new style seal plate which uses a shaft seal that does not require a copper seal cup like your original pump. The required shaft seal is included in the seal plate kit as well as a new seal plate o-ring.

please tell me whats include in this kit c203-193p

Hi Alberto, The Seal Plate Kit includes the Seal Plate, Seal Plate O-ring (U9-228) and OEM Shaft Seal (17304-0100S).

how do you secure the shaft to unscrew the impeller and where do you access the shaft?
Reply
Hello, First you would need to remove the cover off of the back of the motor, where the electrical wiring is. On the back of the motor in the center is a small exposed portion of the shaft. You will need to slip a wrench on the exposed shaft to "lock" it while you remove the impeller. You may need to remove the capacitor to have better access to the shaft. Hello Jen, depending on what model your pump is, this goes to models DURA-GLAS - PR, P2R, PRA, P2RA, & MAX-E-GLAS - PE & PEA in Sta-Rite.

Just replaced the motor on my STA-RITE Dura Glass P2R . Now my SEAL PLATE
C-103-137P is leaking very bad on the bottom.Replaced the O-ring as well. I tightened the clamp as tight as I can get ( fear of breaking clamp ). Can the plate be possibly be warped.
Thanks for the help.

The seal plate could have a hair line crack or it could be warped if the pump ever ran dry. Also, the shaft seal assembly must be replaced anytime the motor or impeller is replaced, by using the old shaft seal assembly you risk the chance of it leaking. I purchased this kit but after assembly, I can't get the stainless steel clamp on. The o-ring is so wide that stainless steel clamp does not fit anymore. The tank body c76-47p does not have a groove for an o-ring. The pump is a sta-rite dura glas p2ra5f-125l. I did not find an o-ring in the old assemble. Either way, I can't complete the job.

Hello, Sometimes the housing oring gets stuck in groove and it looks like there is no groove. From what you gave me as a part c176-47p1 which is for Sta-Rite Dura-Glas and Max-E-Glas Pump meeting p2ra5f part number the pictures show a groove. Also there is a video on "how to" video on changing gaskets.

I have a very old sta-rite pump system before 1998.The part # is stamp on the seal plate as C103-137p1.I cannot find this part by this part number. Is there a replacement for the old style and will it mate with the back side of the pump.why did they discontinue the old part number? If there is a new style did they improve it?

Hello, Wayne. The replacement is the Seal Plate, Kit (c203-193p) click here to view. It will mount with all other parts on your existing Sta-Rite Dura-Glas or Max-E-Glas. The Seal Plate no longer includes the Copper Insert and will now use the new style shaft seal assembly.

I have a pool pump that is so old that the ID plate in not legible. The pump casing has "C103-137p" on it. The filter it is connected to is a 160GPM, Mitra MA160 Pac-Fab (Pentair).
I am looking to replace motor and rebuild pump or replace entire pump assembly. The problem is that I have no idea what HP the original pump is or the capacity of the pool. Anyway to reverse engineer this from only the details above?
Thank you in advance!

Hello Craig- Unfortunately with the information given the only thing we can tell you is it is a Sta-Rite Dura-Glas and Max-E-Glas. The only way to be certain of the HP is to take the pump apart and look for the part number on the impeller. Key # 10 on the diagram.

I purchased a replacement pump USQ1102 and it is great. However I also purchase a seal plate C203-193P thinking it replaced C203-137P1. The hole in the seal is quite a bit bigger. My pump says shaft is 1/2-20. Where did I go wrong? While the seal plate fits the other side of the pump well it leaks like a sieve. Can I adapt with something? Need to buy another plate?
The original was sta-rite dura glass P2r AXE 124 UL code IH83V. Any advice?

Hi, Steve. The correct seal plate was ordered for the P2R Series pump. You might have installed the pump shaft seal incorrectly or did not install the seal plate o-ring causing it to leak. If you can provide more info about where it's leaking from we can assist you.

Just checking that the C203-193P seal plate kit can replace the seal plate on my 1987 Max-E-Glas pump that had the copper heat sink insert. I already bought the replacement motor (QC1072) from you, and also plan to replace the impeller (C105-138PEB) and diffuser (C1-200PA) since all these parts look pretty worn after disassembling the pump.

Hi Steve, Yes this seal plate kit does replace the seal plate that used the copper insert. When you replace this seal plate you will no longer use your copper insert.

I ordered this seal plate kit and the only thing in the box was the plate. I did not receive the seal or the o-ring.

is there an error in the hole for the seal? seems to be way off center in the seal plate . i do Not want to rebuild with this plate , as i doubt the seal can compensate for that much of an off center bore. please advise

Will the seal kit Pentair C203-193P fit as a replacement for a Sta-Rite AXE-124UL pump? It fits a Hot Springs Spa 1987 version. It did not have a brass cup.

My new seal plate C203-193P doesn't have a tab on it.My diffuser C1-200PA doesn't have a slot on it.I guess these were reffence points to line them up properly. My orginal parts did have them. How important is this?
Reply
Hi, Wayne. It is not important. The Seal plate can only be installed one-way and the Diffuser just has to align to the screw holes on the Seal Plate.

What is the center to center measurement where the motor bolts go?

Hi, Lou. It is 5".

I cannot find and part numbers on this old pump except for the strainer cover (c3139p1). Is model Seal Plate Kit - C203-193P correct for my pump (pics attached)? I cannot seem to stop a leak coming from the back of the face plate and runs down between the electric motor and the face plate. I replaced the shaft seal but that didn't stop the leak. The reason I am looking at the face plate replacement is the 4 bolts are very corroded from my salt water pool. Any other suggestions?
Hi Lou, Thanks for the photos those were helpful and it appears you have a Sta Rite Dura Glas Pump. We would suggest this Sta Rite Dura Glas Seal Kit to remedy your problem

The bolts on the seal plate I just took off were 9/16th. Is this the same on your replacement?

Hi Billy, for us to suggest the proper parts could you send a photo of a wide shot of your complete pool pump to show the pipes going in and out of the pump? To supply this photo simply click the reply link below and upload your photo. Once we get this photo we can make the proper recommendation.

Just checking to see which Seal Plate kit (C203-193P or C203-194P) would fit this particular Sta-Rite pump. Having issues with new seals not seating/fitting in the recess. Hoping that replacing the entire seal plate will solve my problem.
Pictures are attached.
Hello Phillip. The correct seal plate kit for this Pentair pool pump is the C203-193P. Shaft seal installation hint: Do not touch the white ceramic or shiny graphite surfaces with your fingers. Prior to seating the ceramic portion of the seal (white section) place a very small amount of lubrication around the opening in the seal plate. Squarely align the ceramic portion (white facing up) in the seal plate opening, place a folded paper towel over the seal, and press firmly until it stops. Check the reverse side to verify. The paper towel prevents skin oil from being transferred. Bolt the seal plate to the motor. Place the remaining half of the seal on the motor shaft making sure the graphite side comes in contact with the white ceramic. Attach the impeller and tighten by hand while holding the reverse side of the motor shaft with a wrench. This will ensure that the 2 halves of the shaft seal are installed properly.
