My automatic vacuum cleaner hose keeps coming out of the wall when the pump is off. Will this part w400bwhp help with that?

Yes. Not only does this vac lock have a lip to grab onto the ridges of an automatic cleaner hose but it also will spring load shut if the hose comes out providing a much needed or required saftey measure for swimmers.

Hi, For safety reason it's not easy to open, you will have to use a flat head screwdriver or something similar to open it.

My pool is missing the vac lock door does this affect the performance of the pool? Currently I leave my pool vac plugged in all the time.

The vac lock door absence will not affect the performance of the pool as long as the pool cleaner remains attached. There will be a safety issue if your pool vacuum is removed. I would consider replacing the vac lock if you plan on removing the vacuum for any extended period of time.

What is the inside diameter of this? My vacuum hose has an outside diameter of 1 3/4". Looking for an alternative to the Hayward skimmer cap attachment for my above ground pool.

Do I need to drain the water to below the level of the suction port before changing my vac lock assembly? NO WHERE in the instructions does it state. and if you are able to install underwater, is there anything that needs to be used around threads? example lube, plumbers tape...etc

Hi Kelly, no you do not need to drain the poo down nor use any plumbing glue or tape in order to install these vac locks.
